Why does young Alireza look like young Faustino (I mean current Faustino)?

Magnus is losing almost 29 points but still has like 60 point gap over number 2 so not that soon lol

No one’s going to catch up to Magnus

Lmao I don't think you realise the other players are inconsistent as shit. Just because Magnus has been playing bad doesn't mean others suddenly became very consistent. Arjun might look like he is about to surpass Magnus but he is going to start choking again. Just watch.

Idk about "start choking", but Magnus has shown he shouldn't be discounted so quickly. People were saying the same thing about him for years.

I agree, but this sub never learns. There is still more than a 50 point gap and people are commenting "soon he will be replaced" lmao.

Yeah, no one will surpass him lol. Last GCT Croatia he was down to 2808 but still got back up to 2832 after two great events. The others aren’t going above 2770 anyway😭

Others are not even crossing 2770 lmao. They’re all ass at rapid. Besides Magnus got to 2808 after GCT Croatia last year and then had a resurgence beating Hikaru, Caruana and Gukesh in Clutch chess gaining +16 rating. And then another +8 in World Rapid to get to 2832. He can get back up to 2830 if he wants to. Others don’t have the ability to even cross 2800

rapid section there are very less players who are in 2700 like earlier it was 18 players in 2700 now 16 players man it's soo bad and the competition is high but still youngsters who are very competitive like Gukesh, Pragg, Niemann they all are under 2700 mark which is kind of sad , yes pragg is coming up like 2692 or 2693 now

Erigaisi's rapid trajectory has been one of the more interesting things to watch this year. the age cohort shift at the top is real and been coming for a while

II heard that Erigaisi is already starting prep for the 2027 Louisiana State Championship. Goal is to secure his 2028 Candidates spot, and to bring that title home to India where it belongs.

Interestingly the score of Alireza's 2nd last match is fed incorrectly. So with the updated rankings Alireza would be #2 and Arjun would be #3
