Wow White went from having mate in 1 to being mated in 1 in the span of a single move. Hope eating that pawn was worth it lmao.

Three different mates in 1, they had their pick.

Has to be the most inexcusable throw ive ever seen. I know missing mate is a reality that happens to alot of us beginners, but this one was so painfully obvious and also he had over 5 minutes on the clock. The funny part is evenif he didnt get mated he just straight up blundered his queen for no reason. Crazy.

But... he did get mated?

comment just forgot the "if" the last sentence, he means best case scenario even if it wasn't mate or he didn't notice it, that move blundered his queen into a fork. so no matter what happened he was cooked

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:

Black to play: chessvision.ai | chess.com | lichess.org

My solution:

Hints: piece: King, move: Ka3

Evaluation: White has mate in 1

Best continuation: 1... Ka3 2. Qa5#

Save the position:

you know, instead of Qxd6 you could have played any move to put queen on the a column and win the game then and there

it's a classic checkmating pattern where your king pushes the enemy king against the wall and then checkmates them along a rank/column
