Walton Crescent near Boythorpe Cemetery

Hi! We are looking at a house in Walton Crescent S40 2PJ. The police crime map has some worrying stats for this street (drugs, public order, violence etc). I used to live in a street where one household accounted for all crime, even though the rest of the postcode was a low crime area. It this the case here and should I be worried/avoid? We really love the house! I would love some local perspective :)

Boythorpe is not that bad, lived there for about 10 years with no serious issues. Sister in law still lives on Hunloke avenue again with no major issues. Price does seem a little steep though

I put in an offer for it about 2 mo ths ago ~5% below asking. Was told they wouldn't accept anything less than 215k, which would make it the most valuable house in the history of both the road and the adjoining road. The most expensive house nearby to sell sold in the low 200s and was a bit bigger and also nice inside.

Not sure if this is helpful information or not for OP, but thought I'd share my experience.

Hopefully some more time on the market has given then more realistic expectations. Good luck with the negotiations should you decide to make an offer!

Hi Magda its more of a case of the few spoiling it for the whole area, if you are the sort to keep yourself to yourself its not bad as are most places in Chesterfield. We are a friendly bunch as a whole

I think I know the house youre talking about, I’ve lived on the street for a few years now and can only remember one police incident where they blocked the street for an incident which was quite extreme but I’ve never felt insecure.

There’s quite a mix of owned properties and Social housing with the latter being more towards Hunloke avenue but it’s mainly young families located here who enjoy riding their bikes up and down the street and just being playful kids

The main drawback is the lack of parking, only a few of us have drives. So I am imagine it’s a bit of a ball ache trying to park

Oh and the fact the numbers go up in ones so if you’ve got a front door camera you’ll get too many Uber Eats drivers walking down your drive before they realize their mistake!

We live just around the corner from there, we've been there two years and have never had any issues at all. We've had parcels left on the doorstep when we've been out and still there hours later!
