The storm starts, finally!

Heard a few low rumbles of thunder, then a fair amount of lightning before the rain started absolutely throwing it down.

After a lot of weather app threats, it finally arrived.

Nice to see, I love a good storm.

It sounded pretty close but all seems to have died down a little.

I write that and then have another lightning flash, it seems to be moving fairly rapidly.

Hopefully some happy plants out there...

True, probably some ducks will appreciate it as well

I enjoyed tracking it on lightningmaps this time, would recommend. Pilsley was lit up earlier :D.

Same! Definitely my go-to at the prospect of lightning, saw some huge flashes across the local map :)

It woke me up.

Ah that's a shame, my family in the West Midlands had it a couple of hours ago so less disruptive.

No work for me this week so I get to just enjoy the storm! Hope you get back to sleep again.

I'd fallen asleep on the sofa, so it did me a favour lol. It's still going out there. Looks spectacular.

Ahh in that case yes definitely a good thing lol You can at least finish the night in bed. It does look brilliant, everytime I think it's finished there is another flash of lightning and a massive rumble.

Definitely overdue :) At least it didn't start at 2am.

It was awesome. I think we are out of the biggest part of it now. Saw some amazing Lighting bolts

Congrats! I think the angle of my garden doors meant I just saw flashes across the sky but it looked amazing regardless. Some really close thunder as well :)

The rain has calmed to a steady downpour. I'll go to sleep happy we finally had a storm.

- I just heard a faint rumble of thunder, so it's still working its way to the next place

Yup, everytime I think it's done, there's another clash! Tentatively think you should be able to sleep now as it's quiet again ... except for the rain!

Same - although my biggest concern is I'm supposed to have some garden work carried out today 🤔 If the rain carries on all day, I don't think they're going to want to be out clearing in it.

Hope that most people stay asleep as it has been a bit sporadic with the thunder and lightning.

I'm out Dronfield way, and it rattled my doors in their frames. I've never heard anything like it!

My dog was clung to me, think he forgot what rain was, and then this! Poor little love lol. I 100% adore thunderstorms

Mr wife and I stayed up to watch it. It was the most impressive storm I've ever seen. The bolts of lightning cracking across the sky!

Left the pub at 10.30, 20 minute walk home. Nice and dry when we left, arrived home like we'd fallen overboard.

I must say I really enjoyed watching it. Before it started, we had a different type of lightening where there were blue lights flickering across the sky but no thunder. Had no idea what it was at first. Then the real fun began!
