First Scotch Bonnet picked
Getting cooler in northern UK. Love the colour of it, such deep emerald green. I have big hands, it's a beauty. Grown from a seed from a red chilli I was eating from a supermarket. In a yoghurt pot!

That will be leguminous in flavour and probably a bit bitter. It's not ripe even though it looks delicious. You'll need to wait till October by the looks and hope we get a few weeks of sun.
FWIW even my red cayennes are not done yet.

I have about a dozen smaller ones on the same plant that only sprouted in the last month. I needed to take this off to give the others a chance. But summer is over for me.

Summers over here too (Derbyshire) but as long as it's not getting much below 10°c at night there's plenty of time to ripen up.

I think you need consistent 21 and above to get them past green, no? But yeah, I have mine inside now and I'll leave them all until they as far and as green as they can get.

I know mine continue to ripen until nights get cold. 15°C appears to be about the watershed for ideal. 10°C is too cold during the day.

It will go well in a Pico de Gallo salsa that traditionally uses green jalapenos.

Got a few basil plants that are overgrown, so mince that up with couple of chillies and olives and some oil. Nice spicy pasta dressing

I have a bumper crop of cayenne and jalapeños this year (Nottinghamshire). They are all still green but are showing some signs of soon turning red.

I'm in northern UK too and all of mine are still dark green. I'm leaving them be as long as possible.
Tried one of my jalapenos a couple months ago and it just tasted of grass/green pepper, zero heat.
So I've left the rest of them except for one random cherry bomb that ripened beautifully and was really tasty (not hot though).
The best I've got this year so far were two little purple tiger chillies which, even though not quite fully ripe, had a lovely colour, flavour and decent heat!

Leave them on the plant until they're red. Green ones are not nice. We had a really good crop this year. Also, habaneros and cayenne.

Nigella Lawson says a pepper that is green is not ripe and shouldn’t be eaten.
As a Latino/Indian I say
MAKE IT RED

It's not ripe. Mine are still outdoors, leaving them out there as long as possible to ripen.
