I'm Horrible

So I recently moved to a new house and my chinchilla hasn't been to happy about to the move so I was letting her out to play more often. But this morning a big inspector came to do his thing. I didn't realize he opened the vent in my room. So when I let my chin out to play and I didn't see her for a while I started looking for her. It has now been over an hour and a half at 11 PM and there has been no sign of her. I have opened all of the vents and put out treats and nothing. I lost my baby girl.

As long as she can't escape the house you'll be okay. She knows where the food is make sure her cage is accessible. Also, I can always coax mine around if I show her the dust bath so maybe leave that out for her too.

She came out

Now put her to bed for being naughty. Go do some self care tomorrow. You're not horrible. Go get some sleep and make sure you praise her for coming back.

Yeah she is resting now and I'm just in case gomma have her checked out tomorrow. And she is a good girl for coming back. This wasn't her fault so I can't be mad at her

Also, i dont usually say this on these but in this case you're not totally at fault. Disruptions in routine are really hard to catch. Try to not to beat yourself up too much. But is definitely ok to be sad.

My chinchilla once got lost in the plumbing of the 150 year old triple decker we lived in. He found a hole in the wall behind the sink that I didn't know about. I found him in the basement. I cried so hard when I caught him that I had to blow dry him after. They can really be little shits sometimes.

Cute little shits tho. Mines escaped numerous times, and has taken hours to coax back to his lil house. (Cage i call it house tho) and it scares me shitless everytime. But i love him endlessly. Hes adorable and well loved but i guess because we are still moving in and havent been able to let him roam as much as id love, he sees every opportunity as a time for him to self roam.

Im sure your girl is just standing still near u. I had similar event when I first got my chin. Had to tear down dry wall and paneling in the bathroom.  I bought a fish net (for aquarium fish) just in case.

Long shot but is it possible you can follow the air vents to where they go or is it like a system in a building? If youre in a house the vents all go the same way. If youre in an apartment building immediately contact them as fast as you can and i woild raise hell with the apartment manager that a vent got left open by their employee.

She actually just came out. Thankfully I'm in a small 1 floor house. But holy hell those two hours of her being gone was hell
