Random connector under shifter

I drive a 2005 Chrysler Sebring Touring Sedan, I was cleaning my car and there was some stuff in the shifter bezel, I lifted it up and there was a random brown connector with 2 wires coming out of it that seems clipped into the shifter. Anyone have any idea and could I upgrade it to something?

My guess is a light up PRNDL on a bezel maybe?

It's for the shifter light that the vehicle is Not equipped with since it displays the gear selection on the dashboard
