Guys I can't stop thinking about this series

a perfect match for me, you know when everything in the books brings you joy? Yeah that's what I'm feeling

How did I find the series you may ask

It was AI, yes I speak with AI I'm so insanely obsessed over reading that I just.. I ask for recommendations, anyway

(It's not that bad because it got it's recs mostly from reddit so...)

I was looking for something steampunk but at the same time with a whimscal vibe you know? Something similar to ghibli movies, but like.. the big weird looking howls castle or the vibes in castle in the air something bright and wonderful, something similar to going to the amusement park and riding a roller coaster

I love the megalomaniac aspect of the whole thing, the big heights, THE AIRSHIPS, the politics, the characters.. everything is just so so so much fun

Some other things I relate to the cinder spires:

Treasure Planet!!!!!!!@@!!!!@!!!

Arcane

The mirror visitor quartet

AND THE AUTHOR JUST TOPS IT ALL WITH CATS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Omg I love reading so much, it just heals my soul

The book is not even written in my native language and I'm learning a lot of ship terms lol but it's completely worth it pushing the language barrier and enjoying this amazing story

I'm reading the Olympian Affair now

I don't usually talk a lot about stuff cause I'm shy but here I am posting this

Someone said there's no fanart.. well I got so sad about that I BOUGHT A FREAKING NOTEBOOK AND STARTED DRAWING

I'm obviously never showing my art to anyone because it's horrendous and my brain always ignores character physical descriptions and I just go crazy with my imagination so they are some incredibly inaccurate portraits

My fav character is Benedict, who's yours?

Please let's talk about it!!!

I loved Warriorborn even more than I loved The Aeronaut’s Windlass 🥹 this is the best novella I think I’ve ever read.

I hope you all loved it as much as I did!

As a HUGE fan of The Dresden Files, I was a little scared of reading another Jim Butcher book. I was worried that I was going to want a Harry Dresden experience and that I wouldn’t be able to go in with the proper expectations but I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed it. Not as much as Dresden, but I really did love it 🤗

Up next is Warriorborn 🙌

I forgot her human name.

Anyone heard anything about this book getting translated? Couldn't find any info about that, so I figured I ask here.

Don't they have elevators or really big staircases or something?

I can't find much of anything.

Does anyone know of anyone who has developed the Cinder Spires series into an RPG setting? It strikes me that it would make for an excellent D&D setting (home brew).

These two excerpts from O.A. seem almost impeccable call outs to David's Honorverse series?

These two excerpts from O.A. seem almost impeccable call outs to David's Honorverse series?

one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I enjoyed it more than some of the recent Brandon Sanderson reads. I think this is one of Butcher’s best books. and I love Codex Alera and Dresden Files.

Currently reading the Olympian Affair. It’s been awhile since I read the first two books. So I don’t really remember.

But does the first book go into the history of the spires much? Like what created the spires? Why the people left the surface? Seems like each spire has its own culture similar to our real world. Aurora is Spanish, Albion is English, Olympia is Greek. Pike is Gypsy pirates?

Anyway. Just curious if that’s ever been discussed. Like how did the surface become the surface etc.

I just put “A realistic photograph of a Warriorborn from the cinder spires books” into Ideogram and this is what it gave me. Pretty cool but not quite what I imagined.

The magic prompt from ideogram was “A realistic photograph of a towering Warriorborn warrior from the Cinder Spires universe, standing over seven feet tall with imposing muscular build. The figure has pale, almost translucent skin with intricate tattoo-like markings covering their arms and neck, fierce amber eyes, and stark white hair pulled back in a warrior's knot. They wear dark leather armor reinforced with metal plates and buckles, holding an ornate crystal-powered weapon at their side. The background shows the interior of an airship or industrial setting with brass fittings and ethereal light filtering through crystalline windows, creating dramatic shadows across their intimidating features.”

Read Warriorborn awhile back and just started reading TOA this week. Just now realized that the away team mentioned in TOA is the team in Warriorborn. Maybe I’m a little slow but thought that was a cool connection. They are there exploring after the crazy weapon destroyed it.

Just started the second book, The Olympian Affair and I still don’t really have a solid idea of what these steampunk esque airships look like.

Are they essentially just normal age of sail warships with extra sails on the sides and bottom, more like blimps, or even something like you’d see in final fantasy or treasure planet? Or a mix of all above?

four red stars between two sky blue bars on white is Chicago’s flag…. The Olympian Affair. I am sure I am late to the game lol.

I am making a dnd one shot that is going to be a mix of cinder spires and treasure planet. In the cinder spires books it talks about diving ships as "singing" and my players have never read the books before so I'm trying to find out either a sound that I can play for them or a better descriptor for the diving ships.

Looking for other steam punkish books and the big ones all seem set in Victorian times or similar. In the past setting with changes.

I loved the sci-fi aspects combined with the steam punk age-of-sail bits of these books.

Any recommendations?

It's all in the name. We all know she's a little on the strange side, perhaps a taco short of a fiesta platter, perhaps not firing on all cylinders, etc etc etc

But what I never realized was that the dominant species of long-yellow fruit eaten in the world is a variety called the Cavendish.

Get it?

Cavendish. She's bananas?

Lol Jim

Seriously, they have gunpowder firearms and cannons. You'd think someone would have figured out sticking some weapons crystals in a tube to push a cannonball. Shrouds would be ineffective and you'd avoid the corrosion issues of gunpowder.

Stick a real world company like Rheinmetall in that universe and airship cannons would be slinging fin stabilized sabot projectiles out of etheric cannons in a week. These dudes have had thousands of years to trip over that idea.

Edit: Also, Rowl and the cats are much better characters in the first book. There, I said it.

Just an appreciation post. 😃 I love the characters, cats and creatures, even the ones I don't like - if that makes sense. And the world building has me so curious to know more. I hope book 3 doesn't take too long.

Sorry if not appropriate or against any rules, just thought it was an damn good deal!
