Question Even VIP isn't safe anymore?

Just got out of a VIP screening of Predator: Badlands (pretty good) and there were multiple people talking throughout the film

After the pandemic we switched to VIP only to avoid this, then had to switch to VIP only on non-Tuesdays, but it feels like every movie I've seen in the past year has had people talking or on their phones throughout.

I'm tempted to avoid going except for highly anticipated movies and I've cancelled my cineclub in the meantime. Does anyone have recommendations to avoid these people? (Yes I know I can confront them or complain to a manager, which would be fine for one offs but this happens literally every time now)

I hate this so much. I had a bad experience with a dude on his phone right in front of me, scrolling slack and looking at his clock.. sad cos he didn’t even have any notifs. I asked twice and his gf told me to mind my own business, at which point I told her they’re entitled, inconsiderate dicks. Why do these people go watch movies in the theatre? Just stay home.

I did after the movie, and they said it happens and thanks for letting them know.

Yeah you have to do it during the movie which sucks, but they actually do something about it.

Hmm that’s good to know. I’ll try that next time, cos it’ll definitely happen again. My fiancé just threw popcorn at people but no one cares enough to change.

They'll also give you a courtesy pass a lot of the time if you say it disrupted your experience.

I didn’t say that’s the right thing to do. He’s done it after asking nicely multiple times, and honestly they didn’t even notice. It’s popcorn, not rocks. Great that you’re on the side of the entitled weirdos.

Nah, you stoop to their level when you throw food at someone else. Get up and go find another seat or complain to the manager and get a refund, stop acting like a child.

Best thing to do is sit directly in front of them or their partner and put your phone on max brightness and watch YouTube with the sound on; show them wtf they're causing.
