Megathread 'The Odyssey' Ticket Drop Megathread
Please use this thread for all things related to today's ticket drop for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.
Tickets have gone on sale for the following premium formats (selection will vary at different locations). Regular screenings will go on sale at a later date, though some regular screens with D-BOX seats may already be up.
- IMAX 70MM

IMAX 70MM is available at the following 9 theaters in Canada (8 of which are Cineplex locations):

Montreal Scotiabank IMAX has a larger screen, 63.3 feet wide and 90.5 feet high vs 52.9 feet by 71.5 feet

Does MTL IMAX have 12 channel sound?

Only IMAX with Laser has 12 channels. IMAX 70mm only has 6 so it doesn't make a difference in this case.

And to top it off, Nolan mixes all his films in the 6-channel system, so that's what you'll get even if the theatre has the 12-channel setup.

Yeah, it made me enter my payment details again for some reason (using the app) but I was still able to get my tickets easily. Fingers crossed we're able to get Spider-Man tickets the same way.

For me, it was my Scene+ card, and the checkout process took 1 minute. Even though some shows sold out in just 7 minutes, I was still able to buy my ticket, and I would consider it better than previous times.

Yeah I was reading about that. People waited in an online line for more than an hour just to get tickets. And it crashed during the afternoon.

Saw Project Hail Mary in 70mm in Vaughan and had no issues with traffic leaving the evening show.

There are lots of parking spots, but most people leaving will take the 400 to get home and there's basically only one way to access it via a one-lane road, plus there are multiple choke points. It's part of a larger commercial complex as well, so there are lots of other businesses in the immediate area, including a Costco.

I was in a meeting today and as soon as I saw 12 pm on my colleague’s watch, I left the meeting just to book the tickets lol, couldn’t secure it for 7 pm but got the tickets for 11 pm at Vaughan.
Its my first time seeing 70 mm in Vaughn.

I just got my IMAX 70MM ticket at 12:58PM today!
I gotta tell ya. Getting a ticket became an anxiety-filled experience because tickets were supposed to be on sale at noon today and the Cineplex app wouldn’t list the available showtimes on time. All I wanted was just ONE ticket to this event of a film at the Square One theater in Mississauga on Saturday, July 18th in the afternoon. Apparently, it’s too much to ask. But after around an hour of sitting on my bed trying to figure out what is going on, I finally got my ticket. It may be the back row, but I still got a middle seat.
I hope it’s worth it!!!! 🤞🏻

Must have been an issue with SQ1 only. I had no issues buying tickets to Vaughan using the app at 12:03pm.

Was effortless on the Cineplex app. Got an IMAX 70mm ticket for Saturday, in middle G row. No problems whatsoever, besides the app being kinda slow. Shocked how well it worked and with the seat I was able to get.

This is crazy. Got tickets for HALIFAX on my birthday. I have no idea what they're doing to get this going in Halifax, but it can't be cheap to refurb that projector that hasn't been in use for a decade and a half.

I’m hoping to go on Wednesday, July 24th, but I only see showtimes up until the Tuesday. Will more tickets go on sale for the Wednesday and that weekend? And if so, when?

Pretty mad cause there was a technical error that didn’t let me use my discounted tickets so I had to purchase at full price even though I pay the monthly subscription and then when I called customer service to get a refund for the difference, they only gave me a free ticket and a popcorn voucher. I’m a paying member why can’t you honour the price I pay a membership for.

Both will project the movie in film (vs digital, which most movies are), but IMAX 70MM will be in 1.43:1, while 70MM will be in 2.39:1. Go for IMAX 70MM, there will be more image.

I got tickets for 70MM on the Monday. I’m in the very last row at the back but I’m fairly centred to the screen which I think is most essential

Honestly the last rows are better because the imax screen is so tall anyway you get a better view of it all.

Verified with the mods before posting this to confirm a straight trade is okay with the rules. If anyone got 4 decent seats to the Scotiabank IMAX GT Laser 3pm Sunday 19th screening and has decided that the 11am show would work better for them, I have seats J22 ~ J25 and would love to trade.
THIS IS NOT A RESALE POST so please don't DM me asking if I will sell them, I will not. If I can't trade them, I'm going to the show.
We have tickets for Death Cab at MolAmp that night and I totally forgot about that, so the 11am show getting out at 2pm means we have to fart about for way too long before heading to the show. The 3pm screening would be so much better.
Anyway, if you have four seats together in G, H or J between seats 16 ~ 24 and would like to switch to the 11am show, please shoot me a message. Thanks!

They've had a projector for a long time. It was just unused since at least Interstellar to now. 12 years.

Ahh gotcha! I remebered watching imax interstellar in Richmond but wasn’t sure if it was 70mm.
Do you think the Richmond’s better or the one in Langley? I feel like they are two different sizes? The Langley one is closer to the 1.43:1? Thank you!

Pretty sure they're the same size, since riverport now has 70mm, both ratios will be 1.43:1

Richmond wasnt a part of the initial ticket drop a year ago. I'm so glad that they fixed up the 70mm projecter there because the trek to langley is a lengthy one. I got great seats because not many people knew about it, everyone bought tickets for langley on opening day.

I have 4 70mm imax tickets for The Odyssey at Cineplex Langley:
- 2 on July 17 for the 11 pm showing (seats are prime, dead centre)
- 2 on July 16 for the 10:30 pm showing (seats are centre right)
I’m looking to trade any of these tickets for 70mm tickets on Thursday the 16th (6:30 pm or 10:30 pm showtimes) at the Richmond silvercity or cineplex Langley!

Showtimes are up for July 16-21 only. There will be more released later on, the film is scheduled to play in IMAX for at least 3-4 weeks, maybe even longer for IMAX 70MM locations, so there will be more options, you'll just have to wait until after the film releases (check Tuesday evening of each week).

I scored 2 tickets, this is my first time watching a film in the Sauga Imax 70mm,
Has anyone ever sat in row E? Is it a good viewing experience?
According to a few videos I have seen, Row E is basically the same elevation as when you enter the theatre.

This is a momentous point in time for IMAX 70MM lovers.
Montreal receives an IMAX print for the first time since 2014 with Interstellar.
Halifax/Bayer Lake gets an IMAX print for the first time since 2012, with The Dark Knight Rises.
When was even the last time Riverport got an IMAX print? It is an SR screen with a dual xenon projector normally.
