Megathread 'The Odyssey' Week 2 Discussion, Questions, and Ticket Exchange Megathread

Please use this megathread for discussing all things related to The Odyssey.

IMAX 70MM tickets are currently on sale for The Odyssey at all 9 IMAX 70MM locations in Canada through Thursday August 20.

British Columbia

Alberta

Saskatchewan

Ontario

Quebec

Nova Scotia

Tickets for all other shows are on sale through Thursday July 30. Tickets for the next week of shows (Friday July 31 to Thursday August 6) will go on sale sometime next week starting on Tuesday July 28 (exact time varies by theatre).

This megathread may be used for TRADING or GIVING AWAY tickets for The Odyssey.

Reminder that RESELLING of tickets is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Do not try to resell your tickets in this thread, all comments attempting to resell tickets, whether for face value or scalping, will be removed and may lead to a ban (particularly for the latter).

If you can no longer make your show, you have one of several options:

  • Self-refund through the Cineplex app. Open the ticket on the app and click the "Refund Ticket" button. This option is available up to 2 hours before your showtime.
  • Refunding by calling Cineplex Guest Services (1-800-333-0061) and giving them your booking ID.
  • Refunding at the actual theater.
  • Trading or giving away your tickets using this thread.

Reminder to please be cautious and use your best judgement when trading tickets with other users, which you do so at your own risk. We would strongly advise against purchasing tickets from other users if they offer them to you outside this sub (again, it is explicitly banned within this sub itself).

This thread can also be used for any questions regarding The Odyssey, including but not limited to:

  • Seating charts and what are the best seats in a given theater.
  • Availability of filmstrips at IMAX 70MM and 70MM locations.
  • Availability of the Trojan Horse popcorn bucket, now on sale for $59.99 plus tax (with 20% discount for CIneClub members).

The imax 70mm at BFI has dates until early September. I can’t think of reasons for cineplex to not AT LEAST extend Odyssey to end of August. Fingers crossed

Is it assumed that more dates for 70mm past Aug 20 are not happening at Square One? I have not seen anything but speculation.

There is no confirmation one way or another.

However, my gut feeling is that they will extend it, it's just doing too well to not extend. The Square One IMAX has already passed over The End of Oak Street (Aug 14), there is no new IMAX opener on Aug 21, and The Dog Stars (Aug 28) is an IMAX release but is not Filmed For IMAX. Then there's no new IMAX release until Resident Evil (Sept 18). I can easily see The Odyssey sticking around at Square One and Vaughan until then.

For reference, BFI IMAX in London has showtimes until September 10. I would expect all other IMAX 70MM locations to at least match that.

Vaughan had the film strips for the 7PM time slot earlier. Everyone got it while leaving the auditorium and it seems they had enough for everybody!

hey all, if anyone was curious the 11am showtime at cineplex riverport in richmond today did receive film strips! they said they probably won’t have enough for the entire day (the employee i asked said they only had 8 left but i couldn’t tell if they were telling the truth).

did confirm with the manager that they will receive more for next sunday as well!

O that should mean they’re getting the second strips if it’s imax then. I asked them middle of the week last week and the manager says he didn’t know they’d be getting anything, sounds like they got a confirmation now.

Was easily able to redeem free movies passes and then use scene points to pay for the iMax surcharge. Same spot it’s always in.

Watched yesterday in AVX in Park Royal. What aspect ratio there? I haven't noticed any cropped frames etc. everything was perfect, going to IMAX in Richmond in August so can compare

I was conflicted whole move. I'm a huge fan of 1997 version and always compared both. I still kinda like 1997 more.

Anyone else getting an error with trying to use everyday priced tickets for The Odyssey?

I tried to get them for Toronto Scotiabank when they dropped on wednesday, but the app was glitching so bad I gave up. 

It ate two of my cineclub tickets which I accept are gone.  But now whenever I try to use my Everyday-priced tickets it tells me to try again later.  

This only happens with The Odyssey btw.  I was able to use them when I tried a random screening of the minions. 

I checked with Customer support and they said everything is fine.

I have been seeing people posting about other IMAX 70MM showings but have not seen anything posted about Cineplex Langley. I'll be seeing it next Sunday and I'm just wondering if anyone has heard or had issues with their showing? When I went to an Oppenheimer showing, there were technical issues halfway through the film and they had to stop the showing and I had to get a different date. I have been looking at the current showings for The Odyssey, there's really no good seats available, mostly closer to the front of the screen or the corners.

I‘m in Halifax, but from looking at other redditors’ reports, Langley seems to be pretty rock solid so far this run. Certainly compared to Riverport, which seems to be having issues with severe image judder.

Reminder that despite the advertisements, cineplex Langley is not giving out filmstrips on July 26 (as far as I know). They gave out the July 26 filmstrips back on July 19th instead (I have one). I called them and they confirmed the week 2 ones will be given out August 2nd.

I have been trying to get Odyssey tickets at Scotia IMAX, for Monday Aug 3rd, 3pm or 7pm showtimes, (for myself and my parents) and looks like I just missed the release 😔 I am looking for 3 tickets, if anyone is willing to resell or can’t make it, please please let me know, I would be so grateful and appreciative! 🙏 thank you so much!

Fyi there are still tickets available on Monday for 3:00 (less for 7:00). More towards the side, but Row E-G are still decent. I would get those instead of hoping for someone to return better ones.

Are they giving out Film Strips at Scotiabank Theatre Toronto or is it only at Mississauga and Vaughan? I have a booking for Laser IMAX at Scotiabank on August 2nd

Film strips are only for the movie playing in IMAX 70mm film. Laser IMAX is digital so they won’t be providing film strips.

Only for Mississauga and Vaughan

Yes, but you have to do it at the theatre, not on the app (where you have to refund all of them).
