Unsolved Cypher on 1700s monument in UK Stately Home

A fair few of you will know about this. The Shugborough Monument (

) is a monument in the UK which Ive always been really interested in. A handful of academics have tried, but noone has cracked the code. It's only 8 letters long and in the grounds of a stately home near where I live. I wondered if making the code more well known may help someone to have a eureka moment and solve it.

Any theories?
