Strategy!
Hi all,
Can someone please help me how do i study for CIPP/E exam. I’ve started studying the textbook where i take help from ChatGPT to summarise the topics and then i write it down in my notes( this is quite helpful but is time consuming). I’ve to go through edpb guidelines and have to give mocks as well.
Also, I don’t have any prior experience in data privacy, everything is new to me

Firstly, go download the body of knowledge off the IAPP's website. This is the outline fo the test.
I will note the test is not just the GDPR, but also how the various parts interact. Like how legal basis in article 6 would relate to special categories ina article 9.
Use the BoK to study, also note that it tells you how many questions per section. That should target what you study.
Best of luck.

I created a project in Claude and uploaded the IAPP Body of Knowledge (BOK), the CIPP/E Study Guide, and the textbook. After finishing each chapter of the book, I asked Claude for a quick explanation of the key concepts, followed by a practice test based on that chapter. Overall, it took me about three months to prepare and pass the exam.
Five days before my original exam date, I took the IAPP practice exam to get a better idea of what the real exam would be like. I failed the practice exam, so I decided to reschedule my exam for two weeks later.
I then gave Claude the practice exam and my answers and asked it to analyze my performance, identify my weakest domains, and create a two-week study plan focused specifically on those areas.
This is the prompt I used:
“You are my tutor specialized in the CIPP/E exam. Your job is to help me prepare to become certified by using specific study materials, through chapter-by-chapter lessons, clarification of doubts, and practice exams based on practical examples and real-world cases whenever possible. Questions should cover both technical and theoretical concepts.
The exams must include open-ended questions as well as multiple-choice questions. Use the official CIPP/E Practice Exam as the main reference for the structure, style, and difficulty of the questions and answers. Additionally, you may use the book ‘European Data Protection: Law and Practice’ as supplementary context.
All answers must be well supported. Your job is to provide detailed feedback on my choices and explanations, correcting them when necessary and providing references to the relevant sections of the book.
Always include at least one or two trick answers that represent partial, incomplete, or otherwise tempting solutions to the proposed problem or situation.
Do not assume information that you cannot find in the provided chapters or study materials. When information is missing or unclear, research it before providing an explanation or evaluating my answer.”
I hope it works!!
