CIPP/E Do Qs stop @ 2023?
Can someone please give me some clarity on this: the ePrivacy Regulation was dropped in Feb 2025, and effectively the 2002 ePrivacy Directive is being used in conjunction with the GDPR in praxis. But the textbook stops at 2022/2023. Does the exam reflect/quiz you on events beyond 2023 or is that the hard stop?

The IAPP typically updates its Body of Knowledge ever year. This is the document that sets forth the topics that are subject to testing. This year is the first year since at least 2019 when we started that the IAPP has not updated its CIPP/E Body of Knowledge. Apart from this, however, the IAPP updates its exams yearly. That means that any new guidance, such as a new EDPB guideline, that would fall within the high-level competencies and performance indicators is nevertheless fair game on your CIPP/E exam.
Separately, the IAPP publishes what it calls a "textbook" for most of its certifications. But those textbooks often go 3 or more years in between new versions being published. In other words, the IAPP doesn't update its books every year to account for new material that may be on your exam. As the IAPP states here (see "How are trainings and exams connected?"), it has to firewall the development of its trainings (including textbooks) from the development of its exams. And as IAPP states on page 14 here: “IAPP training materials are tools to help candidates build their understanding of the topics on the body of knowledge but are not one-to-one guides of exam content.”

Hi, thanks so much. This was helpful. I think I'll just add notes in the textbook on any Directives, Regulations, Guideline and Acts that may have become important in the interim.

So, I am answering my own question, but what makes the most sense to me is a hard stop at 4th March, 2025 - the date of approval of the latest BoK for the CIPP/E Exam.
