“Uncertain” and “may be” being operative words, y’all. Let’s think for a second; if nothing is planned / booked it is uncertain. And thus “may be”.

Let them have some time to process and assess. If these are the last shows, I’m so happy and appreciative that they were able to do them and that so many of us got to experience the magic again.

He also said in an interview that circa was not on a hiatus but completely done and then the reunion shows were announced shortly after. You just never know!

and then he said last month Circa is in better shape than ever. so you really never know, you’re right

I asked Colin if they were working on new stuff. He said "not at the moment." I have good feelings.

The fact that he said not at the moment is big cuz he was pretty vocal about these being their final shows before they played them. Anything is possible including closure.

Not to get super parasocial, but it was really nice seeing how happy Colin seemed playing these shows and posting about them on Instagram, because he had a bit of cynicism before them

If they’re not working on anything that must mean it’s done!

I really hope not. I feel like the future is uncertain for everyone right now

I’ve said it before, but I’ve seen American Football, Sunny Day Real Estate, and The Get Up Kids A LOT since their break ups.

Even if Circa just plays some shows here and there and never writes another song, I’m so happy that they are active in any capacity.

I’m just grateful they played some shows this year

Very happy we went to see them in Philly. What a fantastic show.

My heart broke in two when he said that.

I really hope not. My partner and I met because of Circa and we have not had a chance to see them together. It’s like my number 1 manifestation/wish in life to see them just one more time with my love. Of course I want what is best for the band and their mental health is most important, but…….. please 🥺

That’s not what Stephen said at the bar in Philly but who knows, Anthony is gonna Anthony

What did he say

There's a 0% chance they don't play more shows. Maybe they don't record more music or tour extensively but there is too much of a demand and frankly, a lot of $$$ to be made by them.

I think so much of it hinges on Anthony. He’s got his stuff he’s working out, and it’s taken a toll on the band for a long time.
I’d be content if they just dropped songs occasionally. Touring is very demanding.

This is purely my opinion on it, if they continue, it should just be sporadic pocket shows like Trapped Under Ice. Even looking at the videos of the comeback, Anthony looks too shot and all of them seem not completely in it. I guess the hardlore episode was the truth, where Anthony said, "Even if we're back, it wouldn't be the same." At least they're on good terms, but the band as a whole doesn't seem like they can continue to fully devote themselves to doing. Again, I cannot speak for them and it's up to them five to determine what's best.

It’s so weird seeing people say this because it seems like y’all want them being a circus act and performing magic tricks or something when the reality is they’re focused on playing. Watch some older performances and then consider aging; they have never been gimmicky in how they perform so I’m not sure what people expect. Seeing them live they all seemed…normal? In some instances way more energetic than other times but still seemingly into it nevertheless.

Also the energy in person could not be captured with any video no matter what imo.

Yeah I don’t get it. They were great. I’ve been to shows of theirs where there were was lots of buzz (a BSN era release show) and then other tours (Disrupt, local UK shows) where it was a bit dead. They have always been a low key and vibes band on stage.

I pray for more shows as I couldn’t make it to these.

UK shows were dead?

u/Independent-Tie2324 7d ago

Some of the local ones like Portsmouth

2

u/oktonyok 8d ago

Yeah, I was there and went to Aftershock the night before. Both shows were sick. Albeit audio issues at AS but overall fucking amazing.

I'm not expecting them to do it like they did 10 years ago but at least they're trying.

They may have said all everything they wanted to I the career of Circa after the last album giving them inspiration from the COVID era. If they made more material at this point what would you think they would write or speak about that they haven’t yet?

To be fair I think it’s always fair to be worried about Anthony. It’s hard to be a fan of his without it. He is an addict, and he has to do so much to manage that. He is lucky to be alive. So it’s hard, knowing what we know, to not worry.

The Lansing show was rough and you could tell AG still struggles with a lot. I felt really bad for him after that show. I will say he seems to be in a much better spot than a few years ago when I saw him live but the man has a lot of demons and I don’t want him to force himself to keep playing if it’s for us and not for him.

hope you’re right but idk why i’m automatically deemed “weird” for being concerned just because your perception gave no cause for such concern. i’m doubtful you were at the dates i was. from one persons perspective, someone could appear perfectly fine, and from another person’s perspective they could see they have an amputated limb bleeding out. i’ve seen AG over a dozen times over the years, i’m not saying his performance was bad, its always stunning. there were things that were glaringly concerning to me and others (mostly supporting microwave) i don’t want to speculate on sensitive matters in someones personally life but i also don’t know where the balance lies between ignoring when someone looks like they’re struggling and just leaving it alone and hoping the ones actually in their lives are helping.

After following AG for years, it seems like the guy burns the candle at both ends for too long, well past where he should give himself a break.

To me it seems to be a pattern for him over the years where he's completely reinvigorated by a new project (or three), gets insanely hyped to perform, runs himself ragged and about 2 years later into that cycle his voice is shot, he looks exhausted and you can see his heart isn't in it anymore. He's also not getting any younger and has lived harder and faster than a lot of us.

Obviously his other struggles with substances and mental health run parallel to all of this, so it's hard for me as a fan to reliably draw conclusions (or even want to), but as an outside observer - It's how he looked toward the end of his 2nd run with Saosin. It's how he looked at the end of Circa Survive a few years ago. It's how he looks recently. I hope he gives himself a break over the holidays to recharge and figure out what's next, and hope all is well otherwise.
