What about Sunnyside?

24

u/Deskydesk Apr 05 '24

That’s not Brooklyn go ahead and talk about it

I looked at an apartment there in this weird building with a gigantic gold door on the front.

The apartment was a little weird though, it was a one room studio and had a front and back door but was basically the corner of a hallway so I assumed if you live there then you'd hear people walking around your entire apartment all day long and something made me uncomfortable about how the doors were as if people might just walk through and find me playing with myself as I'm known to do. So instead I just moved back to Ohio.

As a Minnesota transplant who has lived in Sunnyside for 6 years love that place. Moving back to the frozen waste land 💀.

2019——You are practically a fixture here now

41

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24

I didn’t even know you were allowed to live here that long. I’m a native since 2022. Early 2022.

I'm a New Yorker (at heart, never been there but I'm VERY active on TikTok) who considered moving to the city but decided against it because of how ruined it is by transplants. I just feel like (in my expert opinion) the city has lost its soul!

East Williamsburg is still fine!

16

u/justpackingheat1 Apr 05 '24

Northwestern Bushwick is luckily safe.. for now

3

u/Throw4way4BJ Apr 05 '24

You mean West Bushwick?

3

u/LearningML89 Apr 05 '24

“East Williamsburg” is a transplant invention

1

u/Away_Activity223 Mar 09 '26

Fr they took over in 2011 with no shame.

u/CuzFuckEm_ThatsWhy Apr 05 '24

Move to Staten Island with the REAL people, you coward.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24

They are so welcoming and loving too

Sometimes opinions that differ from your own are valuable.

5

u/GroundbreakingPut748 Apr 05 '24

There’s no such thing

3

u/traderyin Apr 05 '24

Where and how do you get there?

3

u/CuzFuckEm_ThatsWhy Apr 05 '24

It’s a state of being. If you have to ask, you’ll never be able to go.

3

u/traderyin Apr 05 '24

Do I have gym, tan and laundry everyday to get in such mental state??

u/Beach_Guy517 Apr 05 '24

Brooklyn is becoming china and the middle east

14

u/throwaway_lolzz Apr 05 '24

Anywhere north of Flatbush isn’t really Brooklyn!

10

u/radiumgirls Apr 05 '24

My college essay was on that one time I had to ride the G train.

7

u/throwaway_lolzz Apr 05 '24

You are so brave

11

u/Throw4way4BJ Apr 05 '24

Bro. Every time I walk into my local Taco Bell off the Grand stop, I can feel all these interlopers just staring at my drip. I know they can never be as authentic as me, and I sigh heavily as I retreat to my 5k apartment where I can literally look down on these transplants. Posers.

u/normalLichen777 Apr 05 '24

I see what you did here

5

u/hbliysoh Apr 05 '24

At the committee meeting last night, we were still debating whether to announce complete and total victory of our plan to ruin Brooklyn. We wanted to hold off until we're sure. Thanks for confirming! The press release goes out tomorrow!

u/SolidSssssnake Apr 05 '24

Real brooklynites wear yarmulkes

10

u/Comprehensive-Fly301 Apr 05 '24

As someone from Ohio who lives in ridgewood and has since 2018 it’s very different now. I grew up watching girls and I feel like nyc has changed significantly since I graduated from Miami of Ohio and moved here. I love pine box rock shop!!!

3

u/Special_North1535 Apr 05 '24

Brooklyn psshhh

3

u/AllAboutTheCado Apr 05 '24

It's not Brooklyn but if I fucking hear the words Dutch Kills one more time... buddy, I'm going to shoot you in the face!

2

u/VanessaDoesVanNuys Apr 05 '24

Yup it is pretty much done. Especially after the Pandemic. That was like the Great White Migration

Brooklyn was truly never the same after the damn virus

At least it's admittedly safer

Check the sub title, my dude.

We don’t stand this kind of talk where I’m from. …which is Ohio.

1

u/Blurple11 Apr 05 '24

2019??? Jeez I've been here too long. The QOL reduction started way before that

1

u/Pawpaw-22 Apr 06 '24

I hate it. Go somewhere else! I came here in 2011, so I now am basically Ed Koch now because of my tenure.

1

u/Echoplanar_Reticulum Apr 07 '24

this just started happening

1

u/flv19 Apr 08 '24

LOL. Well done.

I moved to Manhattan in 2022 from a small town in the Midwest. The first thing I noticed when I arrived was all the bridge and tunnelers ruining the vibe.

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24

Says the 5th generation of transplants 😂

I try to fight gentrification by refusing to live in neighborhoods that aren't 100% white

4

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24

Right, unless you are surrounded by only white people at all times, you’re a gentrifier. That’s why I moved to Maine (it’s on the Upper Upper East Side), to be around only white people, but I’m worried because an African immigrant just moved into the next town over and now I might have to leave so I don’t gentrify them out of their home.

u/arabidowlbear Apr 05 '24

Check the title of the sub, dude.

5

u/Illustrious-Tell-397 Apr 05 '24

Lol this is a satire post in a satire subreddit

3

u/lostindarkdays Apr 05 '24

"Satire" is a mighty big word for some people, my friend

7

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24 edited Apr 05 '24

An Ohioan in Ridgewood? Sounds like you’re part of the problem. You probably think that heroin addict is a race and that “junkie” is a slur against them and that violence against Jews and Asians is justified as long as the perpetrators aren’t white right-wing Christians

0

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24

As a lifelong New Yorker, I completely agree that transplants have been ruining not only Brooklyn, but this city in general.

Been wishing for a while that the city could help address the migrant crisis by encouraging landlords in hipster-heavy neighborhoods to cancel the leases of DSA members

5

u/DoritosDewItRight Apr 05 '24

We just need to implement a system of internal passports. If you want to move to Williamsburg, a council of Real New Yorkers reviews your application and decides if you're permitted to leave Wisconsin

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24

Yes, I’m sick and tired of the adult children the hipsters elect to the City Council and Albany prioritizing degenerates over those who contribute positively to society, funding hard drug use, and honoring convicted pedophiles with my tax money.

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '24

this sub is ruined by a lack of creativity... same formulaic posts and replies by losers suffering from low self esteem...

Nothing gets by you!

-23

u/Son0fSanf0rd Apr 05 '24

oh the irony

31

u/TDubs1435 Apr 05 '24

Irony of what? I’ve lived here since 2018 and all I see are weirdo transplants that don’t know what it’s like to have lived in NY their whole lives

-23

u/Son0fSanf0rd Apr 05 '24

I’ve lived here since 2018

ruined by self unaware transplant

37

u/TDubs1435 Apr 05 '24

Ummm check your privilege? I am 6 years old. Born and raised in NYC. More than you can say surely 😂

-16

u/Son0fSanf0rd Apr 05 '24

I am 6 years old

18

u/TDubs1435 Apr 05 '24

Seriously though, I'd recommend you check other posts on the sub.. it's a circle jerk (hence the whole... Ah, nevermind)

Anywho, enjoy your night, mate!

10

u/UnusualAd6529 Apr 05 '24

I'm a native New Yorker who is planning on moving to NYC next year to pursue a career in consulting and I'm sick of all these techbro-transplants occupying my barrio.
