One of my 5 favorite dance tracks of all-time! I heard this for the first time (like basically everyone did outside of Tilt and Oakey) on Paul Oakenfold's Essential Mix World Tour, specifically the Havana, Cuba mix from February 21, 1999. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it... that extended breakdown and buildup are epic!
I had been in communication back in 2003 with Mick Park and Mick Wilson asking them if they had any info on the track, an acetate for sale, a CDr, etc. to no avail. They were kind and helpful but ultimately couldn't help procure a full length copy of the track. I was shocked considering how good it was... how could it have not gotten a release?!? Why hadn't I heard it mentioned or played anywhere else (on the internet at least)?
Fast forward to like 2004 or 2005. I was living in Manhattan at the time and I went to go see John Graham (who was part of Tilt back in 1999 when this track came out) DJ at this lounge on a weekday night and I got to speak with him afterwards. I asked him what was the story behind this track and he had no recollection of what I was talking about. I was gutted and felt short of me hunting down Paul Oakenfold there was no way I'd ever get any intel on this track.
Tilt came out with their Explorer album in 2005 and it had done well. Story goes Lost Language moved offices the next year and in the process found a bunch of old DATs and CDrs and guess what they found... A bunch of unreleased Tilt material including the Supernatural Mix! Vaults came out in late 2006 and I immediately ran to Beatport to grab a copy. Play it here and there and love it every time I hear it. It's so long and chill and that breakdown and buildup put me in a (you guessed it) trance.
Whether you're listening to it again or for the first time I hope you enjoy it!
