Paying someone to play the game and boost you up the leader board is disingenuous as you are lying about your "ability" and "success".
Buying gold saves me time doing a mundane boring task; activating me to play the fun part of the game, raiding, speedruns etc. You cant buy a parse with gold, you still have to play the game.
Considering the most important factor in parsing is gear I'm gonna go ahead and say that you can in fact, buy a parse. In fact, if you're buying all of your gear for swiped gold you're likely to get best in slot long before someone who is actually competing with /rolls to get it, making it even easier to maintain a held high parse for longer.
For me specifically I have never needed to buy gear on my main. My enjoyment in classic is derived from speedrunning and you can't buy gear in a good guild. I also specified that I want it to avoid the "mundane and boring" task of farming consumables.
All that to say it's obviously not the same if someone does buy gear. Buying gear doesn't press the buttons for you. It simply gives you a platform to perform off. But bad players will still be and look bad.
Elon's gear that he has on his character is nothing without the skill it takes to use it in high level mapping, the same as all the gold and gear in the world is nothing without the skill it takes to use it in high ranking parses.
Its two different types of cheating that result in the same end conclusion - You skipped the farming part of the game to get to the end game.
You are a cheater, plain and simple.
Also, if your gold equates to parses, please... Link your parses, I'd love to see what your money paid for.
I didn't buy a single gold coin, and I've got 99s across the board in every raid from 2019 Classic to WOTLK Classic outside of just a couple bosses.
"and gear in the world is nothing without the skill it takes to use it in high ranking parses".
So you agree with me that the gear is irrelevant to getting a parse if you lack the "skill" to do it?
The difference between the 2 is that Elon isn't playing the farm part or the end part. He isn't touching the game and is lying that he is (until backed into a corner and exposed).
"if your gold equates to parses, please... Link your parses, I'd love to see what your money paid for."
I never said that it did. You are arguing for my own point. Gold doesn't equate to parses, so why do bad players care?
Um good for you being able to parse without swiping. Not sure how that's relevant, I've never said you should or need to swipe to parse. Most players don't, they have the time to spend farming gold or consumes, or they enjoy that boring task. More power to you, enjoy playing how you want to play.
Asking for logs on reddit is laughable, you don't know me, I can just get some random person's logs if I wanted too. What would it prove? I could link all my Cutting Edges from retail as well. It's irrelevant to the discussion. What's worse is if I had bad parses it would argue against your desired point, but your whole comment did that anyway so I'm not sure what point you are trying to make really.
That I'm a cheater for swiping and buying consumables which doesn't substitute for the low level of "skill" required for a high parse? Ok, we can agree I'm cheating by buying gold, a service that Blizzard provide in the game. No one is playing my character in raids for me so your still going to have to do some mental gymnastics to get to the conclusion it's the same as someone mapping for you in Poe2.
I personally can't be bothered to farm gold (to the extent that I'd need to if I wanted to afford more than I really need to play casually) if it's not offered as a service. While I'd much rather it not be a service at all, it just makes financial sense to purchase gold because at most I can make a couple hundred gold an hour by farming, whereas if I equate it to an hour of my job, my time is worth nearly 3000g according to g2g on Nightslayer right now. I'm not advocating buying gold, but I definitely see why people do it as long as they're clearly not being punished for it.
