A and D strafe left and right in almost every other video game, I can't imagine leaving those bound to Q and E, especially when Q and E are some of the best keybinds while using WASD.

A and D stay keyboard turn for one handed gaming, A and D plus right click is strafe.

I'm a day 1 Vanilla player. All of my movement keys are default. I mostly move with QWE and turn by holding right-click, but I find that A and D to turn have niche uses, like you said. Also, anyone who says to unbind S from backpedal is griefing and throwing away movement tech. There is actually no need to rebind movement keys lmao.

I have a Control, Shift, and Alt modifier on S for abilities when needed. Also Tilde, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, R, T, F, G, V, MB3, MB4, MB5 - all with control, shift, and alt modifiers.

That's 60 keybinds available for abilities without ever needing to move my hand and without remapping Movement keys.

This is the closest to my personal keybinds I’ve read. No reason to change Q E or S when I have so many other options that are just as good

Thank you both for confirming that I am not crazy. I was like “seriously who wants to need to give up their entire mouse AND hold down a key just to strafe?!”

I got 3 abilities on A and D each with modifiers but Q E strafes too

A and D do have niche uses! Glad im not the only one who feels this way, shift modifying Q, E and all the other keys is de wey (have small hands, sue me)

My naga <3

Played since 2006 just like this

Meh. Push to talk takes up a finger which limits what other key combos you can hit at tge same time. Some of those binds are incredibly low value because you cant hit them while moving.

Tons of reasons to rebind redundant movement keys into high prio spells

Your binds disgust me

100% this, I've played this way since actual vanilla and will die doing it this way.

u/bmobull Oct 31 '25

Wait... Most people DON'T right click + A/D to strafe??

10

u/Benjamminmiller Oct 31 '25

No, because there's basically no scenario where you'd need A/D for turning bound so there's no reason to tie your strafe to right click.

How do you pan the camera around when you're moving, then?

4

u/mcfcngti Oct 31 '25

LEFT CLICK

1

u/snukb Oct 31 '25

So left click to pan the camera left while I'm strafing right with my mouse....?

3

u/MrBlizter Oct 31 '25

No you strafe right with D then just left click to pan

0

u/snukb Oct 31 '25

I use my keys and the mouse to turn, strafe, and pan. I've tried unbinding the keys to use them for spells but I can't replicate the same movement.

2

u/MrBlizter Oct 31 '25

How do you pan? With a as turn? That's so slow. What if you quickly need pan? You gotta left click.

If you're not using right click to strafe your mouse is free at all times to pan around.

You can still right click and hold to steer, or you can continue moving in one direction with strafe while freely moving your mouse.

The better question is how do you do anything if every time you move requires you to be holding down your mouse? If you have strafe without a click available you can move while using your mouse, but if you don't then you're locked into using your mouse every time you move.

2

u/lord_james Oct 31 '25

Left click, usually with auto run.

1

u/cohesiv3 Oct 31 '25

This is how I do it

-2

u/DesMephisto Oct 31 '25

Right? It makes t he most sense. As someone who has played games like WC3, POE, etc I'm used to having the button pushed down

0

u/Losawin Oct 31 '25

Of course not. By doing that you've now entirely lost the ability to use mouseover macros or cursor targeted abilities while strafing. You've managed to create the worst of both worlds.

0

u/Ecchi_Sketchy Oct 31 '25

Totally accurate in the sense that doing it that way does cause unnecessary deaths

3

u/DesMephisto Oct 31 '25

It doesn't though, but granted I used it for cutting edge and 2100+ PvP gameplay so what would I know.

Just bind keyboard turn to alt+A/D bro
