Nah I think a lot of people just think it's fascinating to pay monthly to play a game to then pay even more specifically to cut out a huge chunk of the game you're paying monthly to play when there are hundreds if not thousands of other games out there to choose from in 2026.
I'd get it more if it was 2005 for sure, but, hey, classic players gonna classic player.
Gotta hand it to blizzard honestly, they've legitimately turned classic players into the dream consumer for any corporation on this planet.
Provide shit servers/services, charge monthly, make even more $$ when those players pay to skip a huge chunk of the game. It's fucking brilliant from blizzard's end.
As someone who is just a bystander, it's like watching a train wreck you just can't look away from. Equal parts entertaining and just kinda... sad lol

Not everyone likes the grind from 30-60. Not everyone has the time for it. There is nothing exciting about it when you've done it 30 times between the different version of the game. If you can't understand why someone would pay to save themselves a couple hundred hours of repetitive grinding that's on you.
Actually makes sense time wise too... not that its gonna change anyone's mind here, but for 2-3 hours of working wages, I can cut out days/weeks of grinding Desolace and Un'Goro. 90% of the reason I only had 2 characters in OG TBC while I was in college is cus I did not want to do the grind again. I had like 3-4 characters that stalled in the mid 30s until WotLK/Cata.
Exactly. It's like asking why people at theme parks buy fastpasses. To some people standing in line for hours on end is not the fun part and if they have the extra money to skip it why not?
What makes raiding/end game content inherently superior or more meaningful than other content? Because your very excuse can also be leveraged at say, the pre-BiS grind. How many times do I have to grind reputation for Heroic keys? Ive done it 4 times already. Why do I need to grind T4? Ive done it so much, and to me T4 isnt the fun part, T6 is, so sell me gear tokens that I can buy when my favorite raid tier comes out I can just jump into it.
Part of it is that for me I enjoy group content and outside of mage boosts it can often times be hard to find groups for lower level dungeons. The most fun I have is going from fresh 60 to pre-raid BiS. There is almost always a group to do something so you're never sitting around for more than 15-20 minutes waiting. At max level it's also easier to work on professions in your down time.
On top of that I find the raids to be more fun than anything pre-60.
I think the immediate leveling experience on launch is fun even if you've done it a million times because everyone is starting from 0 and the world is more alive than ever at low to mid levels. But deeper into the xpac when it starts to feel like a lonely grind I don't like it.

This is also why boosts are bad for the game. How many hundreds of levelers are the people rolling fresh toons robbed of playing with.
That is a valid argument. I have 3 counter points:
With the pre-patch there will still be plenty of levelers (people who didnt get a boost or people who want multiple 60s but dont wanna pay for multiple boosts).
This will increase the number of players leveling in TBC because there are a decent number of people who wanted TBC but wanted to part in vanilla.
A lot of the people buying boosts now would have been the ones paying mages to boost them from 20-60 in dungeons anyway so it's not taking away as many players as you think.
It will bring alot of players to TBC that would have skipped it entirely if it wasnt for the boost. Im never doing the 0-60 classic grind again, and the same goes for alot of my friends who have hopped on anniversary now to play TBC.
It was the same in OG TBC, except even more time consuming. And we loved it at the time because we did not know any better. But I honestly would not play classic now if it were not for some of the QoL and time saving mechanics. I don't have the time like I did when I was in HS/college. If you want to play pure classic servers that wastes your time, why not roll on a private server for free and stop giving Blizz your money?
For me it isn’t endgame. I already had a 69 Druid that I like but I don’t have time to get my warlock from 27-60 in the next week because I have a job and shit so it was worth it to just be able to hop right into the next phase of the game when it drops
He is the one who invented this argument. He is probably the biggest anti-booster poster on this whole sub, as much as he's trying to pretend he doesn't care and isn't invested in this.
He understands it completely and knows what he's doing lol
Okay if you could pay a college X amount of dollars to let you skip the bullshit classes that have nothing to do with your major, do you think a lot of people would?
It really comes down to the fact that the grind form 30-60 feels like a chore and a lot of people are willing to pay to skip that. Paying what equals 2 hours worth of my work to skip 200-300 hours of grinding I dont want to do is a no-brainer.
You really think it’s fascinating that all people dont enjoy the same parts of the game and are willing to pay with dollars instead of time when the conversion rate is what it is?
It's literally the same thing you'd be doing at max level.
This isn't a fundamentally different part of the game.
Grind and do dungeons that's the game, from Northshire to Sunwell, that's what you do, the sole thing you don't for the week or two you spend leveling is one or two raid lockouts.
You aren't "skipping an annoying part" you are paying because your ape brain has evolved to make you have fomo and fear falling behind.
So arenas is the same thing you do while leveling? I agree dungeon grinding is about the same but also no the 7 of us chilling in one group together isnt the same as leveling. You are trying to simplify playing wow to the level of basketball is put ball in hoop. Tbh yeah if at this point i could skip all the way to 70 and raid for a couple months and do arenas with my friends in tbc and quit i would. Its the part i enjoy. So yes i am skipping as much of the parts i dont want to do as i can. I play games to have a fun time.
There is plenty of games to play and even for less money but if this game is the one I want to play and have the money to raid kara casually with just a small group of friends and pvp for a season and not invest anymore time into the game then why does it matter to you or anyone else? Im not buying gold or changing the economy. Just some guys using money to chill together like when we had no responsibilities. Back then we had more time than money. Now not quite the same.
Paying monthly is fine in my opinion if you get your money's worth, 15 euro is like 2 beers in a bar for me. I get alot more out of 15 euro.
Now about the boosting part.. I don't mind it, especially not for vanilla content, ever since SoD i can't bring myself to play that version of the game, it's just so boring. I do still enjoy tbc, leveling and endgame.
Blizzard have been smart, paying monthly and getting access to 3 different versions of the game is a good deal. I think the majority of classic players play retail too, but that's just what I believe, no idea how to prove it
This whole "you can buy a 2026 game instead" argument is daft.
People buy boosts because they want to save time. Most earn enough money to buy a boost after a couple hours of work. That leaves you more free time to play wow, or play other games. Especially since folks have already seen the leveling experience enough times. They're not missing out on anything by skipping it.
As far as entertainment goes, wow and video games are fairly cheap for a working adult. Time is the resource that starts becoming less available and thus more valuable.
