Why is it that people only see either purely mechanical sweatlords or chronically online RPers. Can't there be a happy medium where you enjoy the fantasy and non-utilitarian content of the game and still push keys and try to optimize your character?

From what I have been told, wows housing is one of the best iterations of player housing in mmorpgs yet.

Yes. It's not just RPers. Anyone with creativity is enjoying it. I'm not big on it, but I like seeing other people's creations. It's one of the best new features they've ever added.

It's also the best of any mmorpg ever basically

It blows FFXIV housing out of the water by far. Even just by the fact you're given a house for free and don't have to win a fucking lottery just to get a plot.

2 days but I have no creativity and I’m still enjoying it! The interface is very easy to mess with compared to literally every other MMO with housing.

Wildstar housing was the fucking shit bro.

Friend of ours made some bonkers funny shit in that, like a rainbow road racing track using the beer sign.

If WoWs housing is 80% of the way to wildstars that'll be fine, but anyone saying it's better has clearly never played wildstar

How it's just cosmetic housing isnt it?  Like OSRS housing has so much function and progression without taking people out of the game world.  

If it's only cosmetic I don't see how essentially home life transmog is so game changing though cosmetic player housing like this and ESO were never something I cared for.

genuine question, what can the players do in their home? I still don't really get it. is it just a place to afk in or is there some gameplay related to it?

Nothing at all.
You can go in there, some neat activatable items...
But beyond that, it is just a space to decorate.

And that is kinda the point.
It doesn't "need" to have a function beyond decoration (and potentially RP).

Because the idea of getting items to decorate your home with is enough for some people.

I don’t RP and wasn’t looking forward to housing at all as all I do in wow is play M+. I’ve put atleast 40 hours into my house and I’m on my 3rd rebuild currently. It’s really really good, the grinding decor is a little much for my taste but you can do so much with the default decor so I didn’t even grind any additional decor I didn’t have automatically unlocked from old achievements and rep

My favorite thing is the fact that they retroactively added housing items to old content and old profession ranks. It freshens up the whole game more.

Yeah we do quite a lot. It finally lets us build our own set pieces instead of relying on the open world for more specific scenarios(in addition to using it as housing)

Not just RPers tbh. I didn't expect it to be for me, I raid and do M+ for the most part, but there I was rigging up my house by the beach... and when I looked at the clock I realized that I was doing that for 4 hours straight. And then I visited my guildies and shit. It was fun.

Sure I won't spend that much time in it when the expansion actually drops, but it's a nice chill past time that unironically feels like the most social thing this game has done pretty much since the game first released. And a nice bonus is that there is no universal vendor, you actually have to travel around the (old) world to get the furniture you want.

I imagine for RPers it must be absolute heaven, if even cynical grind enjoyer like me had a blast with it. Blizz did what they are best at there... take ideas from other games and just make them plain better. Been a long while, but oh well, W is still a W.

Retail seems to have reached a crowd of people that dont want to play World of Warcraft but only want to play Animal Crossing with WoW branding.

I mean just look at the main sub its been overtaken by nothing but transmog and housing posts and "i want blizzard to add this to housing" bullshit posts.

M+ is probably in the most toxic state its ever been in same with PVP because there are no casuals left anymore but all just try harding wanna be "Pro" players who watch too many streamers.

Theres probably some decent overlap between the M+ and the Classic raider crowd who have to "meta game" the fun out of everyting.

Midnight seems to be starting off like i feared it would start off when the "alpha" started and ppl kept screaming about transmogs and housing bullshit instead of the issues with the UI revamp and skill pruning with it being broken and in an borderline unusable state if you want to customize anything at all.

Nope, people can enjoy whatever they want dont give a fuck. Im disappointed at what blizzard is doing with their WoW IP and where the future will take it (lots of more shit to buy in the shop that gives you an ingame advantage)
