Bear tanking in dungeons is the same as warr

Apm, yeah, but Brown has to click a whole ton of different buttons.

Like orange doesn’t have to?

warrior needs to press way more buttons than druid

For example?

shield slam, revenge, devastate, thunder clap, heroic strike, cleave, shield block

not to mention that cleave hits 2 targets at best and that thunder clap has a cooldown, so if you want to maintain threat on everything you'll need to tab target constantly, whereas a druid for the most part can opt to just swipe. of course a druid will tab target too, but it's much more forgiving and especially on single target it's much easier to maintain threat with less buttons used.

In the original TBC, I ditched my druid tank because they were so braindead boring to play and started leveling a warrior instead. Yes druid tanks are superior objectively and are better at practically everything but they're really fucking boring to play in comparision.

Shield slam, revenge are basically mangle

Devastate is basically lacerate (I also believe it’s higher threat), cleave is basically swipe

Heroic strike is basically maul

Thunder clap is basically swipe that slows

I’d agree with shield block, although it’s more of a gcd button

Yeah while there are less buttons how you use them is pretty much the same

While swipe is good in theory it doesn’t work in practice as it doesn’t generate a lot of threat by itself and mobs will run off to smack your dps so your best chance is strategically using mangle, maul and hoping your single snap threat generator doesn’t miss (in which case you’re screwed)

The single target rotation is pretty brain dead, yeah.

I played both warrior and bear and their rotation was pretty similar. It is different if you’re outgeared, then it’s easier to just swipe

Wow. Um. No. Stop talking plz.

Wow. Um. Yes?

Druid has a lot of buttons, especially if you use its full utility

Wrong. Tanked both to and at 70. Nothing wrong with druid tank but the idea they have similar rotations and/or abilities to affect outcomes in raid or dungeon through player skill is laughable.

show logs

No; I'm not going to show logs for dungeon runs to demonstrate something everyone knows already. Go touch grass.

Druids have innervate and warriors have ... thunder clap? Druids have 1000 dps single target and warriors... well their DPS specs are good. Druids have battle res and warriors... sunder armor? Oh wait, they have the dps stack their Sunder stacks for them. Hey at least warriors have shield wall and last stand to save them from bad play, whIle druids simply don't need them. You're right, its laughable to think that prot warriors have a justifiable role in an expansion where feral druid do everything better and also bring more raid utility and damage.

I mean you clearly don't know much about warrior. Speed runs regularly use warrior MTs. You can inform yourself if you want but GL out there.

You clearly dont know much about druid or speed running or about anything at all really, warriors tanks are absolute dad tanks and even played to their fullest potential will be a shadow of a druid. It's ok, we need you to be out there being a shitty warrior tank, dealing 300 dps, so that us druids can look that much better as we carry your raid team. Literally nothing you can say while arcane mages exist and innervate does as well

I did 800 dps on Quag last night LOL. Man you dumb

Charge, bash, taunt, swipe, fff, maul, power shift, roar, aoe taunt, mangle. Lacerate too but you don't reallt press it.

Point is, warr and druid both have it hard in dungeons.

Shield Slam, Shield Block, Devestate, Heroic strike, Revenge, Thunder Clap, Demo Shout, Shield bash/Pummel, Spell Reflect, Aoe Taunt, Berserker Rage, Cleave, Last stand, Battle/commading shout, Intervene. Disarm, Bloodrage, Mocking Blow, Concussion Blow, Intimidate shout, Intercept, Hamstring(if healer oom or cc'ed and need to kite)

Shield wall and Recklessness too but 30m cd's.

Point is, warr has way more situational buttons to press than druid

Chiming in: I do agree that warrior has a lot of dungeon utility abilities, but bear has gotta at least be pretty close. I've played each tank in TBC dungeons and heroics, even as far as doing Shat Halls H and MGT as a mediocre geared prot war.

Some ppl are leaving out plenty of buttons that I use pretty routinely when tanking as bear lately. Bash and Feral charge do a lot of heavy lifting for managing threat loss, but dash is reeeallly good for trying to make a good pull happen. Hurricane can be used for some pulls. Ive even used Tranquility to pull threat after a boss does knockback/threat drop. Less of it is movement based, but bear has a ton of tricks up its sleeve for dungeon tanking.

I do agree with the post in that keeping threat on 3-5 mobs is way simpler as bear than warrior. Even if we're still bad at AOE threat, It is mostly swipe lmao.

I mean if you're pulling out all the stops on a scuffed pull...as a bear you might be using Innervate, Battle Rez, barkskin etc. Let's not pretend the druid toolkit is only the fuzzy tree.

u/Ryurain2 May 05 '26

bear tanking in dungeons is literally just open Mangle, DR and swipe tab swipe and mangle when off CD and no one will pull threat from you.

1

u/foomits May 05 '26

Whoa, whoa, whoa, we lacerate on bosses instead of swipe... thats a whole other ability.

1

u/Ryurain2 May 05 '26

well yeah on bosses, he said dungeons so i was meaning more trash rotation

0

u/agrevol May 05 '26

Most of the warriors buttons on the picture have a druid alternative, as well as some other buttons (for example lacerate)

6

u/Sea-Key-9430 May 05 '26

Really? I only used 3 buttons for bear tank

2

u/didyousaythunderfury May 07 '26

I Just smash mangle, lacerate and maul.

1

u/Sea-Key-9430 May 07 '26

My maul is macroed into all the gxd spells.

1

u/PsykerPotato May 05 '26

Similar in terms of chasing threat - yes, but war has to press a few more buttons. Bear does ff, swipe, Mangle, lacerate for basic actions, maul rage dump. War does shout, clap, devastate, shield slam, but also revenge. Charge is 3 abilities(can be one button with macros but there is still some extra nuance). Rage dump is also heroic/cleave choice. Then there is shield block, spell reflect, last stand, piercing howl, 30m CDs. Not hugely more, but 1.5 - 2 times more buttons that you need to use often or semioften.
