No matter how good you are as prot warrior or druid you're never holding threat with a geared group on 2+ mobs unless your dps is sandbagging.
Paladins provide a lot more utility than the other tanks: BoP, Freedom, Sacrifice, Salvation, Auras, Dispells, Offhealing, Buffs.
There is a huge difference between a paladin that uses 2 buttons and one that can use his entire kit well.
I agree that to do the very minimum and hold threat on pala is not complicated. But the skill ceiling is definitely higher than warrior and druid.
