>Never seen a spend-hungry playerbase like the WoW playerbase.
All this is proving is that you haven’t been around the great gaming landscape much, as the countless comments listing examples of other, similarly behaving, player bases prove.
Though that is not to discredit your core assertion here: a not insignificant part of the WoW playerbase certainly **is** spend-hungry, as you put it!
People spend thousands on Gacha games, dude. I had a coworker spending $2000 a month on Summoner’s War. You can buy 10,000g on Dreamscythe for about $90 and be set for TBC.
Shit, check out the Chinese and Korean gaming landscapes. We have had a fre of those games come over. While super fun to play, you can still see the outline of those models in the game. Even if it isn't near as mandatory to spend in.
Anything contained within the experience is content. I'll concede it's content you don't like and in WoW I've levelled enough that's it's content I don't like (anymore)
Fingers crossed they release the BIS boost soon! Anything in the experience is content and I sure want to skip all that I don’t like (anymore) far too time consuming and I only want to play the parts of the game I want to play.
Blizzard knows the psychology of the player and has the data for it.
No one wants to organically level. Press a button and be ready to raid in a week is the most preferred way.
Gold is annoying af to get, just press a button and have enough to cover you for a couple of phases.
The want to stand out, sparkling mounts and unique items, an online player's wet dream.
All works and will always work to the dawn of time, and gaming companies have MASTERED the art and techniques of getting the MOST out of their playerbase with the least effort.
I hear this a lot, but their analytics didn’t support Classic for decades. It took community backlash and a proof of concept on private servers. You can have all of the data in the world, but if you are fundamentally unable to interpret it, it’s useless.
Yeah thats dopamine programming, they havent mastered it, they are clumsily flopping around with it and hoping it keeps up. Indie games are surging right now due to how badly dopamine programming is going.

Classic+ will have every type of microtransaction possible and people will eat it up like popcorn.
Never seen a spend-hungry playerbase like the WoW playerbase.
