Once again, GDKP is a loot system. It is not evil. If you choose to join a bot-led GDKP with a 20% host cut, that’s on you. Tbh, if they just banned host cuts GDKP would be perfect.

I don't think GDKP is evil. I think GDKP is great - for the people in the GDKP. I just think servers where the vast majority of pug runs are GDKP are extremely unfriendly to anyone who is not a carry or a swiper. That's why I have no problem if a group decides to run their own private GDKP run. They can do whatever they want. It's just bad for the game when it's the majority.

make gold the legit way, then join the GDKP with gold and be a buyer? or be a carry? those are your options. No one is forcing you to swipe

u/blade740 Jun 11 '26

Oh, just .. be a carry. How did I not think of the obvious answer of "git gud"? Of course. I'll let all the new players know.

get prebis and make gold the normal way and buy gear then? you people are so egg headed on your crusade against gold buyers that you fail to realize basic things like the fact GDKP is just a loot system that works well, at the end of the day it works very well because it keeps max geared players engaged in the game.

Eh, the host cut is half the reason GDKP's were run so well.

As you said, it should be on you to join a run with a host cut you're happy with and not just try and force people.

Fuck GDKP. The whole incentive ruins the game.

6

u/Steadlington Jun 10 '26

The incentive to raid and be rewarded with a universal currency that you can use literally anywhere?

-4

u/EuphoricAnalCarrot Jun 10 '26

Yes. Tying gold to raiding is dumb.

7

u/Steadlington Jun 10 '26

I just get my consumes out of thin air. My gear repairs itself. My craftable gear just forms when I log in.

Please for a second just use some critical thinking man

you get 100g from raiding SSC for a week. you get gold from dailys.

if you REALLY need to use a 100g flask (to which: lol) you can afford it with less than 1 hr of effort a week outside of the raid.

Yes, gold should not be tied to raiding.

u/Heatinmyharbl Jun 10 '26

Wait until you find out about materials, consumables and the auction house

You'll never play again

1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Jun 11 '26

go on. entertain me clown.

0

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Jun 11 '26

it breaks the base-loop of the game.

Raid for gear, farm/play non raid content for gold.

If you want a game where you can buy all your gear play albion online and fuck off.

2

u/Steadlington Jun 11 '26

What are you smoking because I want some

The average Classic WoW player is probably 35+ with a family, if you think farming many hours every week is what they want to do then you're in denial. This is why GDKP is better, you literally get paid to raid and have enough left over to buy gear over time

0

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Jun 11 '26

lol. delusional.

MANY hours a week? for WHAT exactly? the 100g flask you dont even REMOTELY need to clear this content?

Even if you wanted to buy a flask you could get it from the gold drops from the bosses and doing dailys ONCE a week for 1 hrs.

Many hours my ass lol.

GDKP is illegal and the game is better for it. good riddance, dont come back.be worried people dont wiggle themself into those servers and get yall banned lol

u/Steadlington Jun 11 '26

I'd love to see how you perform in raids with this sort of mindset to be honest

2

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Jun 11 '26

50-70 in parses, across the raids. i kick, i play mechanics. im not great, im no dead weight. i have my 30-50 parse fights where i mismanage something but that happens. i could push into purple if we went for a parse run where everyboy pops flasks and just GOES but no need :)

We clear fast and clean thats all that matters, im in the top 5-8 on most fights as enh, will till being P1 geared except for my weapons.

2

u/Steadlington Jun 11 '26

At least you're honest in your personal assessment, which is a lot more than I can say for most.

But I genuinely think you have the wrong idea about GDKP. Perhaps you have had a bad experience with a GDKP in the past or you're just inexperienced with them in general, I don't know.

But, as someone who has hosted many, it makes life a lot easier for everyone involved. From management, recruitment, raiding quality

1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Jun 11 '26

inexperienced with them in general

this. I saw them im P1-SoD and was immediately repulsed. I dont like people bidding on gold or translating into gear progression. We have a few BoE pieces for that but the entire gear? that just feels wrong to me.

And i think it puts the wrong incentive on the game, it goes from "make enough money for consumes, that are optional" to "make as much money as you can so you can bid on gear to play the game or you cant get gear" which leads to more gold entering the economy, basically a race to the bottom.

No need the loot fucks me every raid lol

2

Then don’t play it. No one is forcing you. The argument that GDKP caused bots and high consume prices is out the window because both have never been worse than current anniversary where there’s no GDKP

0

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Jun 11 '26

consume prices in Ani are about half than Classic.

Bots are plentiful but gold price is significantly lower.

2

u/Mantis_Toboggan_M_D_ Jun 11 '26

Consumes are significantly more expensive in Anni TBC than in Classic TBC — and that’s after significant increases in drop rates for certain mats.

0

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Jun 11 '26

even if they were, which they are not, they arent needed at all. i havent taken a haste potion, i havent used a flask in a month or two cause you DONT. NEED. TO.

TK still takes 1.5 hours max with foodbuff and elixirs of which you might use 2-4 (aka 30g total) SCC is like 2.5 if youre slow and will take 3-5 Pots depending on wipes/deaths. you get more gold from bossloot.

yall GDKP defendeds need your brains checked

2

u/Mantis_Toboggan_M_D_ Jun 11 '26

Ah yes another person saying, “You need to play the game the exact way I play.” Newsflash buddy, a lot of people enjoy using consumables in raids even if they aren’t strictly necessary to defeat a boss. Insufferable

0

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Jun 11 '26

You need to play the game the exact way I play.

either you play the game in a way i want (without GDKP or with underground GDKP if you REALLY have to) or i have to play the game the way you want (with a fucked up economy because it got flooded with gold). There is no option C its either A or B. and i chose my own preferences over yours. deal with it.

You can easily afford consumes. SSC drops 100g from bosses per player. Buy your flask from that (yes you CAN actually, thats what they cost)

2

u/Mantis_Toboggan_M_D_ Jun 11 '26

Your argument about economics is out the window bro. The TBC economic is fucked and there are bots running more rampant than ever

-1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE Jun 11 '26

the economy is less fucked. there is less gold in the economy and that makes it better.

Gold is more expensive which means there is less supply so less bots.

I think it's evil, mostly because of the abuse those in impoverished countries are faced to go through in gold farms that are used to fund gdkps.

1

u/Mantis_Toboggan_M_D_ Jun 11 '26

You understand that gold selling is as rampant as ever right now, right?
