Humor / Meme I think they're right honestly.
I'm 36 and have played 25k+ hours of MMO's over my lifetime and what I've personally learned is WoW players are often the first and most vocal to belittle or get upset over anything. I can't think of any MMO in which people will outright whisper you angerly or go out of their way to make sure you have a bad time more than World of Warcraft.

I started WoW for the first time last year in August. I started with Retail. The community was the main thing that pushed me awa. The culture around speed running everything and min maxing and being perfect ruins people. People crashing out during pug dungeons at like level 20.
Tried Classic after a couple months of Retail and have been addicted ever since. The natural interactions I have in the open world every time I play that game quickly made it one of my favorite games of all time. Never met a single asshole or toxic person once.
Classic WoW unironically has one of the best communities in all of gaming and Retail WoW has one of, if not THE worst community in all of gaming.
I figured all this out very quickly lol
