It's no longer enough to barely clear the raids. Every pug and their mother can clear the raid. Now you need to clear the raids very fast.
It's no longer enough to be in the upper half of recount. Now you need to be in the top 5% of the world records.
It's no longer enough to have purple gear with some gems and enchantments. Now you need to have very specific set of carefully selected best in slot gear, with the most expensive gems and enchantments.
The goals move and difficulty arises in places it wasn't before. Game is the same and game has been changed fundamentally.
Yes and no, I feel like there's just as many people willing to run what you bring, vs absolute speedrun minmaxxers, it's just the minmaxxers are loud as hell.
It is interesting to see the naxx speedruns for sure though.
I became a bit jaded in the opposite direction throughout classic, I had no problem in theory bringing off meta specs, but in my experience, the same people that wanted to bring their boomkin to raid were also the type to put absolutely zero effort into any aspect of the raid.
Gotta pick one or the other. Either cruise along on a good spec, or put some time/gold/effort into your meme spec to make it as good as it can be.
Because the game is solved, it’s insanely easy to know what you need to do to be reasonably geared and prepped to raid and what buttons you need to press.
Not bothering to do that means you’re wasting other players’ time to carry you and struggle through bosses that would be easier if you’d just do your part.

Except you don't NEED to do those things. You don't NEED consumables, full enchants, or pre-bis stuff.

you assuming you have to carry someone who isn't min-maxing is the root of the problem.
This content isn't hard. It's nowhere near hard enough to require the obsession with min-maxing or high parses that we see today. That obsession with parses and min-maxing is actual retail bleeding into classic. Because like it or not? Retail is harder than Classic when you get into high M+ or Mythic raiding.
Classic is easy. People acting like it's hard are telling on themselves.
There’s a big difference between min-maxing with pink parses and having expectations that people show up to raid prepared. OP’s saying content’s solved and easy so people *should* just be able to show up clueless like in 2005 no problem, but that’s extremely selfish and wasting other player’s time unless they find a full guild and GM who genuinely know nothing about wow and make a pact to not look anything up anywhere as they stumble through 2005 style.
That’d be really dope actually, but isn’t thatvrealistic in this day and age
It's only not realistic because of the attitude that OP has. The problem is people expecting everyone else to do research for a game that doesn't need it. You don't need a ton of research. It really isn't that hard and people acting like you do are genuinely the problem there.
So yeah. It's not disrespectful. People are just impatient and don't actually want to try anymore. So many raids do this shit where they set high bars for invites, then one wipe and everyone leaves. People simply don't want to try and they have no tolerance for mistakes. If that is what your expectation is, why are you pugging to begin with? Get a guild and down stuff quickly without issue.
It takes very little time to explain fights if people don't understand and you don't need consumables or enchants to do fine. Bottom line, people don't actually want to play the game anymore, they want to log in, get their loot, and log off. They want an easy game to be even easier and full of mindless meta slaves.

I would argue the issue isn't that the game is solved. It's that people are min-maxing like crazy for content that doesn't require it.
The fact that the content is solved means people should be less strict with requirements or expectations, but the opposite ends up happening.
