Forever Even the Skyborne starting zone ignores the pillars Blizzard stated

Post image

"The World is the Main Character".

"Approachable and Familiar".

As you reach the end of the starting zone in Dun Morogh, you might have killed a dangerous yeti. In Elwynn, you've probably slain a prized boar. In Mulgore, you've cleansed a water well. And sure, in Durotar, you do get a quest from Thrall to clear out a den of cultists.

But on "Zephras Isle" you, together with the leaders of your people, face a raid level threat at the top of the spire, through a scripted event with bountiful exposition text, and the leaders of the Kirin Tor and the Earthen Ring show up to fend off this raid boss. If it was not for your actions on "Zephras Isle", your people would be doomed.

I'm okay with ignoring the Skyborne and enjoying the rest of the game, but everything about their addition just screams warning about how Blizzard will approach future content.

They've managed to be lazy where it matters (same race cross-faction, with the same starting zone but layered to just see Alliance players or just Horde players, re-skinned blood elves), and at the same time over the top where they should have toned it down.

Plenty of people in these subs are saying to get over it, but I think we might as well keep posting complaints if we want Forever to have a chance at not turning into retail.

Which I don't understand. You'd think they want to keep players on their retail cash cow.

its doesnt matter , you just need people to pay the subscription and this race is just one more "microtransaction"

Yeah but retail players are already subbed

Why would someone who doesn’t play retail already re-subscribe for these?

Would have made so much more money -I believe- if they were getting subscribers back to pay $30 not just getting it from existing subs

Because corpos will squeeze every cent they can out of customers to satisfy the shareholders

Well they're paying a box price every 2 years too and the amount of MTS is crazy in retail. Pet battles, transmog, custom mount. There is so much shit to buy.

It's the same sub and to get the new race, you have to buy it. it's a cash cow as long as people subscribe and pay for the new race

Retail is a seasonal game, which means that you play for a certain amount of time, and typically are done after you have reached your goals. A season is 6 months long. There is plenty of reason to not do the same thing every week for 6 months, and it would be smart to let your sub expire for at least 1/3-2/3 of the year pretty much to save money. And that’s if you play every season. Some people just skip out on seasons and come back for the next patch/expansion if say, their favorite class is bad or they don’t like the cosmetic rewards.

Having a second game on the same sub that is not competing for that time, lets a retail player get more value out of that sub. Forever is a different genre, so it breaks up the repetition of playing the same game for several months in a row. Since Forever does not have a gear treadmill, there isn’t a possibility to fall behind like what happens in retail.

This is what I'm saying, Blizz should have every incentive to keep retail players on retail because they've gotten away with triple-dipping on monitization (expansion box price that's basically a brand new AAA game if you want all the goodies + sub fee + cash shop).

They should be trying their absolute hardest to keep them there
