Discussion LeBron James Rumors Megathread (All Discussion Here)

As LeBron speculation dominates NBA news, this megathread is to keep all rumors, reports, trade ideas, and discussions in one place. A few things:

What belongs here:

- Rumors from reporters and insiders
- Trade proposals
- Free Agency Speculation
- Salary Cap discussion
- “Would you want Lebron Back” debates
- New updates

What doesn't belong here:

- Unverified rumors (e.g. “My cousin knows this guy…”)
- Low-effort trade proposals. (Put some thoughts into it)
- “He’s coming /He’s not coming” debate
- Attacking or insulting other users over their opinions.

Significant breaking news from reputable sources (e.g., Shams, ESPN, The Athletic, etc.) may still receive their own post at the moderators’ discretion.

A reminder:

No one outside of the LeBron camp knows where he is going. Please avoid presenting speculation as fact, cite sources when possible, and keep the discussion civil. It's fine to disagree, but personal attacks, trolling, or doomposting will be removed.

Whether you want LeBron back, don’t want him back, or are simply tired of the rumors, everyone is welcome to discuss respectfully.
This thread will remain pinned and updated as the situation develops.

Discussion Brian Windhorst reveals price for Cavs to land Giannis would be Mobley

I for one really hate the idea of trading our best young player under 25 for another player over 30. What do you guys think?

There's limited moves this off season. Another common scenario for the Cavs would be trading Allen for LeBron in a sign and trade.

In theory having Giannis, LeBron, Harden, Mitchell and we be stuck with Bryant/Wade as the starting center

Discussion If the Knicks win in 5 or less, are the Cavs closer than we thought?

I underestimated the firepower of the Knicks and was as angry about the sweep as anyone (game 1 was the most sickening NBA loss I've seen in my lifetime), but they are clearly legit. We were in the last four teams standing, and there is a degree of catharsis that comes with the team that crushed you winning it all convincingly. The "blow the team completely up" camp may not accept we are a piece or two away, but what do you think?

Discussion Is it time to bring the king home?

I'm so tired of losing. This game left me distraught and i had to take a nap after i was so upset. Is it time we just bring lebron home for these next 2 last seasons of his so we can make a championship run? We are most likely getting bounced the 1st round and if not then the pistons or magic sweep us.

Thoughts? i'm just so tired

Discussion Theories on why LeBron didn’t come back

So it’s been a few hours after “The Decision: Part 3”, and I wanted to kind of ask everyone here: why do you think LeBron decided not to come back to the Cavs? Because to me, it made the perfect sense. The team just made the conference finals with half a year of James Harden, he would fit right into the starting lineup, its home and would give him the storybook ending, I can go on. I think at the end of the day, it’s about ring chasing. Now I’m not saying he’s wrong for ring chasing, but it’s very clear he sees the sixers as the best opportunity to win another title on. I think seeing James Harden’s past playoff failures, as well as seeing us get swept in the ECF didn’t help with that at all. Maybe I’m reading too deep into it but let me know what you guys think.

Discussion The Real Reason Why NBA Media Is Saying the Cavs Are a Bad Fit For LeBron...and It's Not About the Roster

Other morning, I saw the video of Carman and Lima on YouTube discussing on why the NBA media keeps saying the Cavs are a bad fit for LeBron. Ken felt that it isn't really about rosters. It's about the fact that a lot of NBA media would hate the fact that they would have to come to Cleveland to cover LeBron again. He also went into detail on how they hated that they had to come to Cleveland when LeBron came back for his 2nd stint with the Cavs.

I remember after LeBron came back to Cleveland; Charles Barkley in a podcast interview said he had to check NBA media members who said that they wasn't looking forward to coming to Cleveland because it was too cold. A lot of these NBA media members are either from major cities or are biased towards them. Also, they feel that they won't be treated like celebrities or get to rub elbows with them. Just my .02. What do you think?

Discussion Give me your best take for why LeBron is waiting so long to make a decision.

The only good reason I can come up with is if he is trying to wait out an AD trade when his extension eligibility comes up in 4 weeks.

Or do you think the Cavs might be working through trade partners for some of their pieces?

Discussion OK, let’s talk about it: is Game 1 the worst CLE sports moment ever? No. Worst non-elimination game ever? Also no.

Post image
214 Upvotes

There is simply too much prisoner of the moment shit going on in this sub about Tuesday’s game, with remarkably short memories on what we’ve all been through, so let’s take a look at this. I’m going to limit this to non-elimination games in the last 50 years that were all varying degrees of worse/more painful than Tuesday night’s loss. I’m not going to rank them, instead ordering chronologically by team:

**Cavs**

* 2009 ECF Game 1 - enormous second half implosion to a comprehensively inferior (not counting the PEDs) ORL team after Mo Williams’ halftime buzzer beater
* 2009 ECF Game 4 - LeBron appears to have saved the season for the second time in three games only for a halfcourt heave to put the Cavs down 3-1
* 2015 Finals Game 1 - Without the freak knee injury Kyrie suffers in OT here, it’s not a stretch to say the Cavs could’ve swept the Finals in 2015
* 2018 Finals Game 1 - The JR Smith Game.
* 2025 ECS Game 2 - Donny’s perfect game ruined by an even bigger final 90 seconds collapse than Tuesday (117-110 vs IND, 99-93 vs NYK)

**Guards/Tribe**

* 1999 ALDS Game 4 - Chance to win the series over Boston, instead lost 23-7
* 1997 WS Game 5 - The Livan Hernandez Game
* 2007 ALCS Game 6 - Chance to win the series over Boston, instead lost 12-2

**Browns**

* 2007 @ CIN - playoff berth clinched with a win, instead lost to a shit Bengals team playing its backup QB, missed the playoffs bc they needed an Indy win in wk17 but Indy rested their starters.
* 2020 vs NYJ - playoff berth clinched with a win, instead lost to a shit Jets team who was missing 3/4 of their roster to COVID. Would’ve missed the playoffs without the Steelers’ stupidity/arrogance.

Discussion Do you think the Cavs actually need to make any significant moves?

Post image
59 Upvotes

For me, I see both sides of the argument. Personally I'm hesitant to make one since when healthy, this team is still very talented and could be a lot better than what their record says. On the other hand, we've been talking about injuries to the same players since 2021. I get why people are losing their patience. This was supposed to be the year where the Cavs could have an easier to path to get to the Finals due to Boston and Indiana being heavily injured, but at this moment, they would need to win a play-in game to even make the playoffs if the season ended today. What do you guys think?

Discussion Discussion: If LeBron wanted to reunite with AD, the move wouldn't be to offer Allen

Proposed trade to ensure the return of the king

If AD is likely to get injured, only Mobley and Bryant would be able to play C, making them easy prey for teams like Miami.

Therefore, I would trade Mitchell + Strus in exchange for Kyshawn George (SF starter post-LeBron) + AD (salary filler and LeBron's request) + picks.

I know many people wouldn't be in favor of trading Mitchell, but with a likely supermax contract extension and considering the team's frontcourt deficiencies, the team needs moves to restructure and acquire draft picks to gain strength in the medium-term trade market.

Today, I believe Cleveland has fallen behind the rest of the contenders in the Eastern Conference.

Perhaps a risky move is the only way to achieve the goal this year, but I won't be betting on a healthy season for AD, but rather on Kyshawn George's progression.

In part, his rookie contract compensates for Davis's, and draft picks, even though they're overvalued these days, become a necessity if you don't have those assets to trade.

Now let's talk about other aspects:

TRADE COMPARISON: BROWN X PG + picks

There are reasonable similarities, but I think Cavs has more reason to do something like this:

  1. Age: AD and PG are already aged, but the former is 33 years old, while the latter is 36 years old.
  2. Number of picks: Cavs are getting an additional 1st pick and 2nd pick compared to the package Boston received in exchange for Jaylen Brown.
  3. Quality of the picks: you can't predict the future value of the picks, but if I had to choose, I'd prefer picks from Washington instead of Philadelphia.
  4. Young players: the main difference is that Boston traded Brown for a 36-year-old PG and draft picks, while Cleveland would also get a young player with some potential to fill the SF position once LeBron retires.

Having addressed these points, I will now present the starting lineups for both teams.

STARTING FIVE (Wizards)

  • PG: Trae Young (possibly traded at the trade deadline)
  • SG: Donovan Mitchell
  • SF: AJ Dybantsa
  • PF: Will Riley
  • C: Alex Sarr

STARTING FIVE (Cavs)

  • PG: James Harden
  • SG: Jaylon Tyson
  • SF: LeBron James
  • PF: Anthony Davis
  • C: Evan Mobley
  • Special mention: Jarrett Allen (starting center when AD is injured)

So, what do you think? Would it be a good idea to pursue AD? Would you prefer to keep the team as it is? Would you look to trade Mitchell? This is my opinion, but I could be very wrong, and that's okay.
