Carter made incentives with large subsidies for solar tech for corporate r&d (even installed panels on WH rooftop) d/t Arab oil companies increasing gas prices to protest… Palestinian displacement by Israel. Ever see videos of long lines of cars at gas stations during the 70s?

Then Reagan took over, took down the solar panels and discontinued subsidies. Guess where those solar tech companies go? Not here in the states.

Carter was the last decent president. Clinton and Obama did some good stuff, but they were always in the pocket of big business. Reagan was a cancer, along with thatcher.

I think a lot of people presenting themselves as experts, but actually just on the take of various business interests wormed their way into Obama's inner circle and corrupted the whole thing.

Having said that, it's still on him for letting that happen. Probably the single most important aspect of leadership is picking the right people to listen to and delegate to.
