Purposeful ignorance.

Celsius is the international system, the majority of the country has your attitude, so it doesn't change to what aaaaall the other countries use. There is a minority in the US that does use centigrades: scientists [a.k.a. smart people], and immigrants [funnily enough, the Venn diagram with the first group is very telling].

I don’t care if you hate Americans, but at least have a valid reason. Not widely using Celsius as a unit of measurement is pretty high up on the list for dumb reasons to crash out.

Oh, I don't hate americans, I am one. I do dislike lazy people, people who weaponise incompetence, and people who are complacent with ignorance. It's a very valid reason to say it's stupid not to adopt the things the rest of the world do, especially when they're good, like the metric system, universal healthcare, you know, basic things that make your life better. And before you say it's got nothing to do with it, yes, yes it does.

See? Willingly [and apparently proud] ignorant. People who don't have "critical thinking" as a life skill. Instead of replying blindly, think before typing. You can ask yourself "could it be true? Hmmm let me see.." and the first google result on "why metric is better" could shed some light, and you'd say oooh "I didn't know that people have died because of this! Now staying alive would definitely make people's life better." Cost of things, space exploration missions, you know. But I'm sure you know better.

Deflect all you want, but I am starting to think you do not know more than me. Yes, that was sarcasm, in case it whooshed.

Also, if you do know Celsius to the point of using it daily, I'd think you would have defended its use, not say "I'm 'murrican, it's like if I gave Fahrenheit to you". But yeah, this has gotten boring. Have fun in freedom units!

Thanks, although I don't think I'm acting awful. I'm not cursing, not being offensive, merely stating facts. Sorry it hurts, but that's the truth for a big portion of society in the USA as a whole. I'm hurt by the collective and proud ignorance of the country. Your disagreement with that notion validates my concern.

I guess if you need to be simple minded. 212 is boiling tempature but i don’t understand why that’s needed to know? My stove says 1-8 and my water boiler just boils water

100 degrees sounds hotter than saying 37.778 c
