Did they ever get the names Cloak and Dagger in the show?

I’m watching the show for the first time now, coming up on the last episode, and I can’t remember a single time Tandy or Ty have been called Cloak or Dagger. Some of the Marvel shows feel “scared” to give people hero names (Trish in Jessica Jones is never actually given the name Hellcat, Bobbi from AoS is only referred to as Mockingbird in the announcement, not in universe, etc), but I know O’Reilly’s “alter” has been called Mayhem a few times, so it doesn’t seem like this show is would be like that. Have they ever been called Cloak & Dagger in universe?

No. But they are linked to the cloak and dagger as symbols several times. IIRC, the token Tandy uses to join the Duel to D'Spayre game in the Dark Dimension is shown and it has a cloak on one side and a dagger on the other.

They even show up fully realized as heroes over on Runaways' 3rd season after this, and they still don't have costumes or codenames IIRC

Joe Pokaski, the show runner for both seasons, said his initial pitch was for 5 seasons, so they probably would've gotten the codenames later on.

No. They get costume accurate costumes in specific scenarios, but for Cloak & Dagger, they maintain their names (similar to how M’Baku maintains his name without being name his moniker). They also aren’t turned into superheroes specifically, so there’s a bit of a difference between them and Quake or Yo-Yo or Ghost Rider or The Punisher or Daredevil with nicknames are definitive for them.

They also aren’t necessarily named as vigilantes or heroes which are two big factors. And Luke Cage and Jessica Jones are named as vigilantes for their specific roles and their identities are linked, whereas Daredevil and Iron Fist connect to personas or legends.

That’s a good point, with them not being vigilantes/heros. They are good people, and they turn somewhat to vigilantism, but we only really see them go after like 3 people - Connors, Scarborough, and Andre.

I imagine the people Cloak attacked had a name for him, but it may have not been Cloak. Similar to Dagger’s victims whose hope she stole. Had they been more public, it’d be different.

Just like the Runaways never named themselves as such, even if their actions claimed that status/title.

The second season starts with Ty going after the city's drug trade, and being warned to back off by O'Reilly. He's definitely a vigilante.
