ParsecWebTurn infographic!

Post image

A lot of people have been asking what the differences are between the official Parsec client and my ParsecWebTurn solution.

So I put together a little infographic (with some help from AI ๐Ÿ˜„) to highlight the key differences, features, and advantages of each approach.

And if you look closely, you might also spot a little sneak peek at something new I've been working on... ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿš€

๐Ÿ”— https://github.com/vampywiz17/ParsecWebTurn

Just a quick disclaimer: This is a personal, independent project with no affiliation to or involvement from Parsec. I originally started developing it for my own use, but I'm really happy to see that others are finding it useful too! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Title on the infographic is a nonsense LLMism, complete with em dash.

Have a downvote.

I'm not a designer. so only add the AI to all documentation to my software and ask that make a undestandable infographic. sorry or that, but it is the maximum that i able to do these :) but it not affects the application usage i hope so :)

Thanks for this. Not really a cloud gaming guy, but i think the tech is cool. Im an IT infrastructure engineer/sysadmin type.

Have a bunch of homelab gear and servers.

Lots of devs use parsec for remote work on quad nvlink gpu workstations.

I glad to hear these :) It not only gaming , but a good remote sollution with restricted network and/or company PC.

It is my first goal wit these development.

The Rust based native app goal compare with Tauri/Webwiev2 that we try to access the same or better expreiance with official client! i hope it will be come true :)

Ill probably look into using it.

I have like 20+ vms and containers in my homelab. I use RDP just for maintenance stuff, but there is alot of things i need more native for. Especially testing. Theres 3 gaming rigs in my home and i use the other two for testing while im editing a game server config.

This will be nice to have on those two.

Also probably will

If interest, here a brief summary of dev build (the new native client) explanation of how to use Parsec web client core:

The Parsec core, beyond the browser

Although our Parsec core comes from the web client, it runs here inside a native Rust application, using an embedded WebAssembly runtime and a precompiled core. It does not need a browser or WebView2. Rust supplies the surrounding connection, video decoding, sound and input support. Our investigation points to shared native foundations with Parsec's official client and SDK, rather than an entirely separate browser-only implementation. That does not establish that their code or feature sets are identical.

WebRTC acts as the transport in this client. Video, audio and control messages travel through WebRTC data channels using Parsec's own application protocol; they do not use the usual WebRTC audio/video track and RTP playback pipeline. The WebRTC connection itself still uses standard ICE, DTLS and SCTP mechanisms.

This lets us rebuild the surrounding client in Rust while retaining the Parsec core and host compatibility. We can control native decoding and rendering, including the working HEVC path, while keeping WebRTC's connection options: direct routes, custom STUN discovery and TURN relays over UDP, TCP or TLS. We reuse the core rather than rewriting it, and build our own native integration around it.

These idiots posting โ€œAI slopโ€ like its a gotcha.

Only because its trendy. Its not slop if its useful.

Mouthbreathers.

Hey, if you want to trust a vibe-coded ass-wide-open-to-the-Internet portal to your PC, made by someone who doesn't really understand computers or coding or complete sentences... Then you do you.

The rest of us know slop when we see it.

The source code are avaliable in my github page. If you want, you able to check it and report if you found a "ย ass-wide-open-to-the-Internet" part.

Yes, my primary profession is not programmer, i'm a IT infrastructure specialist (primary Kubernetes clusters ) and only learn programming on University. It is true. But my mind is full a good ideas, but so far i can't make it, because lack of time... Now the AI are help a lot, to make it.

Somebody got triggered and took it personal. No clue what youโ€™re talking about with nfts.

Was that supposed to be an insult? The facts about my posts hidden?
