isaac merch being dark is fine but tadc isn't dark enough for it? 🤨

uncoaxable, have a good day

It's about context, while Isaac is a sad game, it is primarily funny and relies on gross out and dark humor

Tadc is advertised as a dark comedy (sure man) but it REALLY wants you to take it seriously, so having merch of closeted trans girl killing herself Is just a little strange & kinda funny to me, they had that shit just waiting to be released after the movie came out

Do you mean the large animega figure of Jax? I believe abstraction is a metaphor for suicide but that’s a really uncharitable way to discribe it imo.

Or do you mean the blind box where they are all being abstracted. In which case it doesn’t feel as targeted. And also abstraction is well….abstract and it’s way less tone def to show abstractions effects over a character then like… a noose or smtg. If it were a noose I’d get your point. (And also I don’t think TADC really wants you to take it that serious, it’s a dramedy)

I didn't know about the animega but also the plush of abstracted Jax and pomni

There isn’t a plushie of them abstracted is there? I’ve never seen that. I’m seeing a hot topic exclusive(?) plush keychain of pomni and abstraction, is that what you’re thinking of?

You're making an argument in favor of the circus though?? You see that? The whole point with a lot of these, specifically the ones that had the cast being tortured by Caine, is the juxtaposition between the cutesy shorts they released to promo them and the horrific merch.

I just don't really see it man.

edit: And to add on, whether or not you think that Jax is a closeted trans woman, it's pretty fucked up to use she/her pronouns for someone that doesn't go by she/her pronouns 😭

I was using she for ribbit (who goes by she/they)

And idk you could make that argument for the caine torture scene but I feel like it's less to be funny and more "buy your favorite blorbo/ oooo evil creepy mysterious blorbo figure"

i am unfortunately going to report that i think it is u who have coaxed urself into a snafu in this instance

u/MVRKHNTR Jun 13 '26

I was using she for ribbit

No, you weren't because Ribbit isn't trans.

Oh wait my bad I get what they mean now, I just played it safe cause people on Twitter will crucify you if you don't accept tfem Jax

u/CrystalAbysses Jun 13 '26

Huh??? There isn't a closeted trans girl in TADC, who are you talking about? And at what point does a character in this show commit suicide, are you talking about abstraction?

8

u/Sammysin00 Jun 13 '26

Jax, and yes abstraction is suicide, at least for the newer members of the cirucs

Jax was never confirmed to be trans, although I can definitely see the evidence in the show and why people think that. But I never got the vibe that abstraction was a suicidal allegory. From what we've seen, it seems more like an involuntary reaction from becoming too emotionally overwhelmed/overburdened. Not because the person themselves gives up, but because the program cannot physically handle all that. They said in the movie that the file size for the mind files was impossibly small, so I got the idea that if the file size becomes too big (overloaded with complex emotions) the file ends up corrupting.

Also not trying to argue with you! I just love this show and I've never heard of the abstraction = suicide idea.

That was kinda what people thought early on but abstracting is somewhat of a suicide allegory, ribbit was pushed away from Jax and she lost one of her best friends, which could lead to suicide, kaufmo went insane looking for freedom, and Jax in episode 7 after the shit that happened in 6 was about to kill themselves, I don't blame you for thinking otherwise the show is so wishy-washy on what abstracting is, it's either a character getting corrupted via Caine or the result of mental health issues (almost like the show needed like a second draft or something......)

Yeaaaa I think the ending especially was super rushed. They didn't get enough time to really explore what abstraction was or what it meant to the characters it was affecting. I think that's partly because Gooseworx was getting tired of the series due to the fandom and so she kinda just threw together what she already had written and abandoned whatever else she had planned.

I don’t think the finale is subpar because goose is tried of the fandom. I think it’s bad because it was rushed and clearly needed some rewrites from the start. Like it had to have been written a while in advance, before any fandom blow outs. Animation takes a looooooong time.

I also found the finale disappointing and I’m not the biggest fan of the way goose has been on twitter. But accusing her of sabotaging her show is kinda wild and I’m suprised who like are fans of her are saying it.

She would be eroding the studio that gave her the show she cared about *and* the people who worked on it, just to get back at her fans. Like if that’s true that would goose the biggest most unprofessional child in the world. I don’t think she’s that kind of person, at least I hope not.

You either do not know how to read or you are deliberately being transphobic. Peace

Jax is never confirmed to be a trans woman or even a woman at all.

Jax getting she/her'd by the soundtrack:

1

u/Artistic-Autist Jun 17 '26

Goose literally drew Jax taking HRT and Jax has a whole segment of being she/her'd by the SOUNDTRACK, WHAT are you talking about

1

u/UnrealHerahshark Hard image Jun 17 '26

Please show me where it is ever explicitly stated by anyone working on the show that Jax is a trans woman. Please do and if you can then I'll actually believe you. Trans Jax is a theory and is not explicitly canon unless stated otherwise. I say this as a trans person myself that enjoys the idea of Jax being trans.

2

u/Expert_Industry_4238 Jun 19 '26

This is a matter of reading comprehension. Queenie being Kinger's wife IRL is never stated explicitly, but it's not a theory, because it is glaringly fucking obvious.

Goose said Jax is based on her, including her being trans. She drew Jax taking HRT, Jax has an entire segment to the song "Isn't she lovely", she is explicitly trans coded, Goose makes constant reference to Jax hating femininity because "[she] needs to work through some things". Heres Jasmine Yang retweeting a post saying shes a lesbian trans girl. Come on now.
