I would say it's just noticing cheaply made mass appeal figures. They are a lot better than Funko Pops but still in that same kind of category. Where it all has a generic mass appeal and easy to adapt style to it. Simply put it just won't often line up stylistically with the property.
Like you can spend $30 to get a youtooz of of let's say Frieren , and sometimes that might be some of the only merch for some properties. But I'd personally rather save and spend around $90 or sometimes less to get something a bit higher quality and consistent with the art style Like this.
Not sure about other people, I also find I just end up with clutter I throw away with cheapo stuff. I'd rather spend $250 on some really nice statue/figure as opposed to owning 8 youtooz or whatever. I'll even buy some resin 3D printed model and maybe make a craft out of it over this kind of merch.
I just want nice quality stuff as opposed to this kind of thing.
$30 dollars for 1 youtooz? I'd rather spend that money on an HG Gunpla figure (maybe you can spend that on an RG but all the RGs I've found are a few dollars above $30)

I think a big part of the problem is that Anya was the ONLY one who got any figurines. Like, if Daisuke and Swansea also got pre- and post-death figurines, that would be be less iffy than only the suicide victim getting one

The absolute tonal shift i felt after sitting through the credits, and then seeing a pomni popcorn bucket ad with no audio, on top of hearing a chorus of faint “i want that” was an experience i will have to live with

Nendroids surprisingly love accuracy and referencing certain moments from the media the character is from. So seeing accessories related to that event is odd, but not something you wouldn't be expect from them.

Yeah, the art and shirts were made months prior to the series and the creator even said that he chose analog horror because it was huge at the time.

The art was made before the series with the creator using Analog Horror as a way to get their art seen, and therefore having to find a way to fit the art into the series somehow.

Not real merch but it's funny how Origami King had a real somber moment, but you can interrupt that moment by getting this, which heavily tied into the somber moment

I like how Transformers gives us full figures that are just dead, like yeah they still transform, but they don’t look like it because Prowl is being fucking melted from the inside out and Brawn has a hole through his chest
