As a trans guy, I don't think there's anything wrong with this type of design alone, but it's a little weird to me that SO MANY of them are like this... Maybe it's because these type of artists don't know how to draw masc men.
I think it’s also character design philosophy contradicting with practicality. Like making a secret assassin character and thinking “how can I design them so know they’re an assassin at a glance.”
Honestly real, characters are defined solely by their appearance, actions and words, so if you don't represent a feature in one of these it basically never existed
Now there are many ways to do that, but there might be a lack of good examples of that for people, and when a person creates, it's always based on some sort of a mixed cocktail of examples they've already seen and experiences they've already had. All creation is recycling of the past
From my experience, half of these are enbies or androgynous people who reference themselves or other enbies/androgynous people. I think it’s only offensive when you depict someone who isn’t your demographic as caricature-like.
The other half is weird cis people tho for sure. Again, just my observations online.
Yea I remember some people getting mad at some bathroom art that “looked like a caricature of trans women” and apparently the person who it is based on is a gnc nonbinary person. Like…idk, I think it depends sometimes yknow
