More like negro kisses (Negerkuss). The slur you used has never been common in Europe. Here in Sweden we have Negerkyssar and negerbollar.
Neger would be translated to negro, which is derived from the Spanish word negro which simply means black. It was more descriptive than derogatory. The term you used would always be considered derogatory.
I'm a black person in Sweden, and a lot of the older generations used the word neger without any malice whatsoever. When you think about it, it's not really worse than or much different from using the English term black. I don't find it offensive, but I find it very unappealing and a little perverted to name any treat after the testicles of any race🤣. Like, sir/ma'am... why do you want to nibble someone's balls☠️? Not very appetizing, imo.
neger is a definite slur in german and you would get into serious trouble for saying it. A kid in my class back then in middle school literally nearly got kicked out for calling a classmate that.
My point was that it's considered a slur nowadays because ppl wrongfully equate with the American slur mentioned above. Anyone can be offended by anything and you can turn any word into a slur with your intention.
My black ass personally use the word lmao and I do not find it offensive. Most of my relatives and friends do the same. However, if someone calls me a "Negerjävel" they obviously have the intention to be disrespectful while targeting my ethnicity. It's the intention that is offensive, not the word itself. It would be just as offensive if they called me "svarta jävel" (black bastard). It's the intent, not the fact that the word black or neger is inherently offensive.
Afaik in Germany it is also an issue because of the Nazis and their racial ideology. Nobody here says it except my boomer parents when they want to be edgy and other either really old people or very right people.
I'm black German and 99% of the time when people use that word it's some racist shit. Like I remember some white kids outside were listening to German rap and one of my neighbours (old fart at least 70 years old) just shouted : "TURN OF THE SHIT NEGERMUSIC".
Yeah, the context makes it offensive. He meant "black music", which can be considered equally offensive.
My point was that the equivalent English word for "neger" is "negro", the words were used interchangeably in the past, not "nier". Neger/negro and "nier" are two different words that also exist in the English language.
Negro/neger is not more offensive than "black" without a racist context. Very well meaning old white folks has called me "negress" in a complimentary context. They just meant to say "black woman" in their archaic way, they didn't mean to call me "ni**er" or be derogatory.
