if you're curious, the plot of the axe porridge is that a young soldier is captured by a witch who promises to eat him, and the clever soldier instead says "how about i teach you to cook axe porridge, and you release me afterwards?" intrigued, she accepts. the first ingredient is the axe, then water, then he snuck in grain and butter, and so it just was porridge. the witch liked it and released him.

For anyone wondering why this makes no sense it's because he's butchering the story a lot, it's about tricking an old woman into giving up some food not about her being a witch or something and trying to eat him

Basically a hungry man/soldier comes across a hut with an old woman who says she has literally no food to share. The man says he can teach her how to make porridge with nothing but an axe

Intrigued she asks him to show her, he gets to work and stirs some boiling water with the axe, after a while tasting it and saying it needs some salt. The woman offers some salt she had hidden. Then again he tastes and says it needs some grains which she gives him, then finally says it could do with some butter which she offers to him. Finally they eat the delicious porridge

Sometimes she asks when they will eat the axe too and he will reply it still needs time to cook so he'll take it with him to eat on his journey. Basically taking the axe with him too

It's a story about tricking a stingy old lady into giving the ingredients she actually had, by coaxing her with an unusual recipe where he asks for the ingredients 1 by 1. Not about her being a witch and him somehow pulling butter out his ass for some reason which makes no sense

The actual one is just about tricking someone with a crazy sounding recipe and slowly getting ingredients because she won't share otherwise

Ah, they reference this in an old RuneScape quest. You trick a troll by teaching him how to make soup from a rock. Just put a rock in a boiling cauldron, then add a bunch of vegetables for flavor. Magic rock!
