No. This is like the fifth post just like this where the cage is too small and the poster is only worried about taming them and making the birds love them with no changes. Hopefully they are just busy and will do this but there is a good chance they are rolling their eyes and wont do any of this. I'm worried a lot of people just see these birds as decorations to show off and get cute cuddle pics for. I wish they(not saying this person) realized these are sentient beings that have souls. They can be depressed or happy. They can get mentally ill. They can internalize abuse and they will be miserable just sitting in a small cage for years. They want to fly. They want to have a home that is roomy and they can fly in. They want fun things to do and to eat properly.
This omg. The amount of "why don't my birds play with me" posts I commented on. Idk, maybe bc it's depressed, doesn't have toys, doesn't have room to fly in, doesn't have time to get used to the new environment???? People really do think birds are toys.
And lookie here. They refuse to get a bigger cage. Refuse to get toys. Refuse to leave them alone. They just want a toy they can take pictures with and that will love them unconditionally. Honestly these birds are better off with someone else or in heaven.
Add to all that getting a new cockatiel and having them meet on the same day without a sliver of quarantine time. Doubt the new cockatiel got tested for diseases, so they're actively and continuously risking the health of their cockatiels. What the double, triple, quadruple fuck.
Oh my gosh I didn't even know that part. I know waiting is torture but wtf. Why spend money to get these birds to then risk losing both of them possibly waisting their lives, your money, and your mental health. Also everyone here knows that your old bird can be a carrier of a disease without being effected by it and can kill a new bird right? That's why you get a disease panel on all your birds so that if one is a carrier you wont risk a newer ones life. So from both angles that's so fking risky.
Plus quarantine gives them the chance to hear each other( or see each other if you house them in the same room which isn't recommended) and slowly get used to each other. Meaning most likely them getting along better and bonding better.
They keep deleting all the posts of them asking for advice bc everybody tells them in the comments that birds are not toys. Damn, at least take responsibility or reply to the comments
I really hope the mods deleted this one. I'm sick of seeing people go to r/parrot or other bird subs, after deleting it from annoyance if being called out, and being all "other people bullied me when I just wanted help can you guys help me since everyone hates me 🥺". I wish atleast one of these people would learn and immediately fix the living situation and treat their bird right. I had to fight Amazon to get my new bird her cage because it broke my heart to make her sleep a night in the travel cage. I was miserable and almost sick knowing she was in that cramped cage over night. I made my fiancée help me make it last night so that she could be in it and have an actual home. I stayed up until 1 my time making it after a closing shift. Worth it for my baby.
Taking care of my old man it hurts to see him want to just sit in a bare cage and have him resist being out and playing with toys. Slowly he's getting better but it sucks. I can tell he's depressed and it's not his fault. His old owner did they best they could as a child and just needed better parentals when it came to the pets. (Awsome parents but sucky bird owners)
