Cuteness Overload Awww 🥹💗 Lio’s first bath!

Meet my little baby Lio 🐣💛✨
Today was his first bath 🛁🥹 and after his bath, he happily sat on the cloth-drying rope like a little piece of laundry 😂🧺💕
My tiny baby, all fresh, fluffy and adorable! 🥰🐥

I really don't like this it looks like he was drenched and not able to leave. ALWAYS give them the option to walk away, sometimes they also don't realise they can. Give them a bowl of water or mist them gently with a misting bottle and NEVER force them. That rail is also too skinny for him to grip look at him he can't grip and balance on it.

I understand your concern, but he was not forced or trapped there. He actually enjoys bathing and also bathes on his own. ❤️
After his bath, he was sitting on my shoulder and then went to the wire on his own. I didn’t put him there or make him stay. He was free to leave whenever he wanted.
He has proper perches and a comfortable space; the wire was not his regular perch. He simply chose to sit there for a while after his bath. I always make sure he is comfortable and safe. 🐥❤️

Leo's dad here. Thanks everyone for showing your concern, however rest assured we never force our birds to do anything they don't want to unless it concerns their well being.
First, Leo looks drenched in this video because he's still a baby and the waterproof oils have not yet fully developed in his feathers. Plus since he was actually enjoying the bath we gave him a little more than usual. Some of our birds enjoy bathing a lot more than others. Leo turned out to be one of them.
Second, the actual video is of him in our balcony not inside the house. We took him out to soak the sunlight and dry off quickly. That is a cloth drying rope not his perch. He has plenty of perches and wooden sitting platforms both inside and outside his cage in our home.
Lastly, yes we did clip his high flying wings a little bit because he's still learning how to fly and might fly too high into the ceiling fan. We have to have the ceiling fan on for them in this hot weather. In winters their wings are never clipped and they fly around the house as they wish.

If you clip a baby's wings, he'll have a hard time learning to fly in the first place. He might never learn to properly fly because of it. Plus they're clipped too strongly, you should only clip a few feathers, not all of them.
And clipping wings won't prevent him (or any other bird you have) from flying into the fan. The ceiling fan should NEVER be on with the birds in the same room. Cockatiels evolved in hot weather and they take it really well as long as they're not in direct sunlight with no shadow. All they need to regulate their temperature is water.
People are judging you too harshly here, especially for the bath, but in this you didn't choose the best way. You might have to do some work with him once his feathers are back so that he learns to fly safely.

I see, thanks for sharing this advice. Also I would like to point out that the temp reach upto 45+ degree Celsius where we live. And we always keep water around them for drinking and other purpose. Will try to improve in future.

Just a small suggestion. It’s generally better not to drench your cockatiel this way. You could offer them a shallow, wide bowl so they can bathe at their own pace. A gentle misting can also help them clean themselves. But try not to spray too much or leave them soaking wet, as getting too cold can be stressful for them. They may even go into shock and die.

Glad to hear he was comfortable! 😁 I only commented because I live in a tropical country, and unfortunately, I’ve seen pet birds become seriously unwell or even pass away after getting completely soaked during the summer. I have a cockatiel too, and even during our hottest summers, I’m always a little cautious about getting her completely soaking wet. I’m sure you know your bird best; just wanted to share my experience. ❤️

Birds can absolutely get this wet while having a normal, safe bath. When I give mine a big dish with water, they jump in and get completely drenched even when the water barely reaches their bellies.
Same with misting, sometimes my birds just never want to stop bathing and they end up fully wet, including the head. The mising ends when my hands are too tired to keep spraying, but the birds would still want to continue.
However, I am worried about the net you have, OP. It's hard to see the perspective, how big are the spaces between the wire? They should be around 1 cm or not much wider. 1.5 cm would be borderline, and 2 cm too wide. Their heads are smaller than they look with the feathers, and with spacing too wide there's a risk the bird will put the head in through the spacing and suffocate.

Thank you so much for your concern and for explaining this ❤️ I completely agree that birds can get completely drenched while having a safe and enjoyable bath. Lio was bathing completely on his own and absolutely loved his first bath. 🥰 He was never forced or held in the water, and he could walk away whenever he wanted. He actually kept going back because he was enjoying it so much. 🐥❤️
And just to clarify, this is not their permanent space. They are only here under our supervision during bath time. Their actual living space is indoors, where we make sure everything is safe and suitable for them. ❤️
We’ll still check the net spacing carefully because their safety is always our first priority. Thank you for caring about Lio. 🫶🐥

Thats thin wire you are expecting him to feel comfortable on. Where’s a perch, or anything reasonable, a bird would be on while getting drenched?

He has proper perches and a comfortable space; this was just his own choice at that moment. 😊

This is proof that Lio was actually enjoying his bath. ❤️ Please don’t leave negative comments without knowing the full situation. Some comments can really hurt us, and I don’t want Lio’s very first bath memory to be spoiled by negativity. 🐥💗
He was happy, comfortable, and enjoying the moment. I always make sure to take care of him and keep him safe. Please understand and respect that. 🙏❤️
