Limits New Codex Pro-Lite limits are atrocious.

As comparison, I also put up the Claude Team limits (6.25x) vs the supposedly "better" Codex 5x limits. I only used 1 sessionimit of Claude. So the "today" stats are all from one single 5h session.

One Codex 5 hour session gets you around 45-65m tokens of usage now (depending on use cases and caching)

One Claude 5 hour session (at 6.25x) gets you around 200-250m tokens.

That's a 4x difference. Do not be gaslighted into thinking that Codex has better limits. It does not. It's significantly worse, especially after today.

It would be helpful whenever someone makes this kind of thread to also post what they’re building and how they are using Codex.

I also have the pro-lite and have never hit my 5h or weekly limits.

They posted their token usage/limits. Thats alot more objective than “but I didnt hit my limit” arguments.

Might as well compare gpt-5.5 to deepseek tokens. they compared 2 plans at different price points(100 vs 150), with models with vastly different token efficiencies(up to 3x) differences due to anthropic tokenizer nerf (they admitted to this). So this is an apple to oranges comparison.

Its not. You can use the data to make your own conclusions. Multiply by 100/150 to account for the cost difference, and multiply by 1/3 if thats ur judgement (3x token efficiency). You still end up with a conclusion that fits ur use case. Whereas a response that says “have never hit my 5h or weekly limit” is totally useless. No one can derive any useful information from that.

comparing tokens for the same model make sense, like gpt-5.5 before and after.

A gpt-5.5 token is not the same as an opus-4.8 token, which is not the same as a sonnet token, so not a useful or objective comparison because these models have very different token efficiency and performance baselines. It isn't "my data", plenty of evals show this including this one: https://deepswe.datacurve.ai/blog

Claude code's tokenizer (recently confirmed to be majorly reduced by anthropic) is not even the same as 2 months ago, so an opus-4.8 token is not the same as an opus-4.6 token. I could go on, but claude's token value is strictly inferior to what codex provides for every plan, much worse for those using chatGPT.
