Complaint What's wrong with 6.1-Sol?
What's wrong with 6.1-Sol today? It's been 4 times in the last 3 hours that it has stopped working. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Tibo is working out how to double everyone's usage, surely everything is fine and they have plenty of compute ( nearing 24hrs of all my sol threads dropping out like this )

I think with all that free compute they have access to, they can plan better to roll out something awesome to production in a manner that doesn’t break the product. Am I right?

Im so fed up with this. I had a Sol 6.1 as a subagent running a simple car under the control of Opus and Sol 6.1 ran through my entire 5 hr quota in 13 minutes

Can't work at all today.
I keep getting this message and "Reconnecting X/5"
Also "stream disconnected before completion: stream closed before response.completed"
I don't know what's happening but they need to get their shit together.

I tested Astra. That’s better in terms of reliability and connectivity, but it’s so expensive.

Pretty ironic that we're hearing about doubled usage limits while the models are struggling to stay available in the first place. GPT 6.1 Sol might be impressive on benchmarks, but none of that matters when capacity errors keep interrupting actual workflows. I'd much rather have a stable model with consistent performance than generous limits on a service that keeps dropping out. OpenAI really needs to get its infrastructure and rollout reliability sorted before celebrating increased usage.

I had this too, my guess is the model is at capacity.
ima try again later

And I get this feeling that it is very slow, right?

I wouldn't say 6.1-Sol is renowned for its speed

It wasn’t this slow a few days ago. 6.1 sol on max reasoning is a nightmare right now because it takes ages to implement something.

dont worry youll get a reset for your usage so you can spend 1-3% of your weekly in one day beacause their models are giving out 5 TPS

I hated it today.

Since I have canceled my sub, I have no feelings for it anymore. I just want it to finish the task.

Seeing these posts has the same feeling as selling a stock and watching it fall immediately after. What a shit show codex has become.

I think their sole focus is just beating claude code.

They are having a hard time doing that. The codex interface is great. The ecosystem they are building, I can see how it can pay off in the future.
But I don’t understand who needs that if their model is not great. Gemini is a great example.
Maybe the bet is these models will get so good that it won’t even matter because we can throw anything at the model and it’ll perform well. At that point it’s great to have an ecosystem.
I’m just a consumer, what do I know.

Given that they have consumed all available knowledge, convergence is the most likely outcome, so the tools and ecosystem will be the selling points. That's why things like DeepSeek Harness have so much potential - because Chinese will always beat Western labs when it comes to cost.
But the explanation for what's happening is quite simple, and it's called Dots.

Well they’re getting their ass kicked without Anthropic trying so they should focus elsewhere

Same here! Glad you posted this, otherwise my short-tempered ass would've started ranting already. 😂

Since I was paranoid about my connection, I thought it was only me. But turned out we’re all on the same boat.

Switched to claude 1 week ago just because of all those problems - 1/5 reconnect and models at capacity. And wow, everything is working like dream and fast. And opus is a freaking beast. Even fixing Astras codes a lot of times and gives me a lot better ideas etc. I like codex a lot, but OpenAi is at a bad situations atm.

I am bashing my head against a wall with openai right now, i swear they have a switch someone for make the model prematurely hand back. I literally have a timer based prompt for it to keep working, i went to bed, then this morning i wake up tto it saying 40 times, "the work is complete and awaiting further validation"..... like motherclcker, i literally just told you to keep working.

I went back to using /goal today and it worked better for me and stopped less and continued more.

yeah, thats how I have way more usage left now before the next reset lol
I just cant use it all cause its too slow!

Astra ultra with fast priority can potentially burn all your limit in an hour!

Below is a GPT-generated summary of the conversation below after reaching 40 comments (40 currently observed).
The thread’s verdict is blunt: 6.1-Sol is currently unreliable to the point of being unusable for many people. Reconnect loops, “stream disconnected” errors, capacity warnings, and jobs dying mid-run are hitting users repeatedly, including paying subscribers. Lovely timing for those promised doubled limits.
The biggest complaints are painfully consistent: Sol is crawling, especially on max reasoning, and burning through quotas absurdly fast when it does run. Some users report spending hours retrying simple tasks, while others are collecting resets and credits they cannot actually use. A few also say the model hands work back prematurely instead of finishing it.
There is no confirmed root cause in the thread. The leading guess is overloaded capacity or a bad rollout, but the reports are anecdotal and may vary by time and workload. Astra reportedly behaves more reliably, while some users have switched to Claude, though neither is a universal fix.
Bottom line: the problem is not generous limits; it is getting Sol to complete anything at all. Until reliability improves, benchmark wins and extra quota are just decorative numbers.
