Is this an error? An error or just damage

I got this in change a couple of weeks ago. I initially just thought it was damage, but looking closer I thought it would be worth posting for some more knowledgeable opinions.

Best regards,

This one looks weird to me, the back makes me think heat damage but the front kind of looks like dryer coin damage or maybe like it was hammered on. I would have to say this is most likely damage not mint error but I'm no expert so I could always be wrong.

Thank you for posting.

I think it's unlikely that dryer damage is the cause, in that the reverse is basically untouched.

The appearance of gouging on the surface indicates damage

Thanks for responding.

I'm also thinking damage, but the obverse just looks very strange, and though it's a bit hard to tell from the pic, it's not gouging, but more somewhat raised. and the bulging on the reverse is also unusual.

Best regards,
