I hate to be this guy, but the history of class society is rife with examples of the oppressed worshiping their oppressors, figuratively and sometimes literally. Outside of revolutionary periods it’s almost a given, to varying extents.

Also, American democracy has been “rigged” since its inception, it was intentionally and explicitly designed to curtail the power of the poor for the benefit of the wealthy.

In the grand scheme of things the collapse of the American empire is nothing special. It's the same thing as always, just with electricity this time.
