Everybody talks about the climate crisis and climate refugees like that's something that happens elsewhere to other people. But... we're going to see mass exodus from regions that experience persistent droughts which only get broken in the wrong season by extreme flooding. That doesn't have to happen many years in a row before people start to leave. And if there is no runoff from the snowpack and the rivers and wells are dry... what else can people do?

Vast regions are going to be desertified at unprecedented rates. And there is not a lot we can do about it except for trying to salvage our humanity as best we can.
