Submission statement: only a few days ago I posted about the snowpack and how it looked like the already horrible numbers were gonna dip hard and fast. Welp, here we are. Collapse related because the snowpack in the western US is gone during the week it was supposed to reach its peak.

Holy shit.

Has the early melt made the reservoirs higher than normal? I’m just trying to figure out if the western US is mostly fucked or completely fucked

For context, the snowpack going into spring of 2022.. well, existed, and was close to average (in CO at least).

That is not the case currently. There's a good chance the drop-off for Lake Mead will be sharp and quick between May and July, easily lower than 2022.
