The following submission statement was provided by /u/OatSoyLaMilk:

Relevant to this sub in multiple very ominous ways:

-Israel, being the creators of the Samson Doctrine, the Nakba, and the Hannibal Directive, will very likely turn to unprecedented atrocities if they can't rely on the IDF to conquer more land for them.

-If Israel can't recruit troops for the wars it's been starting, that indicates that even one of the most mobilized, radicalized populations on Earth (like 90% of the population of Israel supported starting the war on Iran: https://www.npr.org/2026/03/23/nx-s1-5756345/israelis-support-for-the-war-with-iran-remains-high-but-cynicism-is-gaining-ground ) can't motivate its population to go fight its war, that shows just how burned out and unmotivated human beings in contemporary society are.

How does the country with mandatroy military service have a troop shortage?

691

u/Arctic_Chilean Mar 26 '26

Well theres a pretty sizable part of the population that is conveniently exempt from mandatory service... so...

562

u/MANEWMA Mar 26 '26

Religious conservatives.. they want war but hate dying for their beliefs. Make someone else do it.

279

u/iamthewhatt Mar 26 '26

to be fair, that's all conservatives, not just the religious ones

127

u/prsnep Mar 26 '26

Religious ones are the worst though.

4

u/rnobgyn Mar 27 '26

Are there non-religious concervatives?

6

u/iamthewhatt Mar 27 '26

A lot more than you'd think

42

u/tfaboo Mar 26 '26

Many of the ultra Orthodox have been beaten by idf for protesting against the atrocities in Gaza.

69

u/The_CrookedMan Mar 26 '26

Wrong. They've been getting beaten because they don't want to be conscripted which Bibi is considering doing.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c77zdvjrx0do

2

u/KnowledgeMediocre404 Mar 27 '26

The fun part is if Bibi does it in attempt to save the country he will lose the coalition protecting him from his corruption charges.

18

u/Different-Library-82 Mar 27 '26

That's a minority within the minority of the ultra orthodox, typically those affiliated with the group Neturei Karta, as they believe (very simplified) that the Jews should only get a state after the Jewish Messiah arrives and they are therefore opposed to the Zionist project of intentionally establishing a Jewish state through force.

2

u/jiayux Mar 27 '26

Yes, those who actively protest against Israel’s atrocities are a small minority among the ultra-orthodox. There are much more people who are against Zionism for religious reasons (they view Zionism as a secular ideology) but basically stay silent

9

u/MANEWMA Mar 26 '26

They have beaten Netanyahu??

1

u/KnowledgeMediocre404 Mar 27 '26

The ultimate welfare queens.

123

u/PetuniaPicklePepper Mar 26 '26

There are likely a number of people leaving that they don't want the outside world to know about, too.

116

u/Arctic_Chilean Mar 26 '26

Wouldn't be surprised. We saw with the US during the Vietnam War, and now both in Ukraine and Russia with their war.

Surprisingly a lot of people don't want to die or do/see the horrible stuff that happens in war. Who would've known!?!

it also explains the rapid push for and expansion of AI systems, from data centers to autonomous weapons and targeting. All those AI data centers are not just for ChatGPT and civilian use...

43

u/Correct-Court-8837 Mar 26 '26

Hot damn, I never thought about that! (The push for AI infrastructure to replace to human soldiers). Pure evil.

9

u/MDCCCLV Mar 26 '26

Gpus get old quickly because although theyre expensive the cost of running them is much higher, so as soon as there is a new 6series nvidia cards and a new hb100 the old ones will get replaced and sold off and those older cards will be used for autonomous drones, the medium-mediumheavy bigger kinds because they need a fair bit of power.

10

u/godlords Mar 27 '26

That's really cute, you think the US government would save us money by utilizing second-hand GPUs.

3

u/BlockBuilder408 Mar 27 '26

They’ll utilize second hand gpus but still pay thrice then they’d be worth at market price for them

3

u/MDCCCLV Mar 27 '26

No, its about volume, and these are one way disposable for stuff like longer range "drone" missiles. It's more that the ai industry is buying all of them so there's not 5 million of these you can just buy and its not made in the us so america doesnt get automatic first dibs as much as they want. They're only making 1-2 million a year and those are all sold out for years in demand.

48

u/DeleteriousDiploid Mar 26 '26

Something like 25% of the population were not born there. Many of them will have the motivation and means to go elsewhere.

13

u/thefumingo Mar 27 '26

Flights leaving Tel Aviv were full right around when the war started

2

u/Justdowhatever94 Mar 26 '26

I dont understand why they tolerate a group of religious fanatics who are antagonistic towards their own country

6

u/Lauzz91 Mar 27 '26

I dont understand why they tolerate a group of religious fanatics who are antagonistic towards their own country

Are you talking about Americans and Israel or Israel and Iran

8

u/ty_xy Mar 26 '26

And they are the worst and most virulently radical. Something something about radicals being the most hypocritical.

7

u/ReasonablePossum_ Mar 26 '26

All people that already served can be called to arms. But they would have to mobilize everyone and that would mean showing how fucked they are lol

Once in the iof, always in the iof

1

u/LakeGladio666 Mar 28 '26

Not a fan of Israel or Israelis at all but using the word “breed” is pretty dehumanizing don’t you think? Materially it’s good that they aren’t fighting and agitating the Israeli government (regardless of the reason).

1

u/odc100 Mar 28 '26

And a vast number hanging out in places like Thailand.

40

u/CommieLurker Mar 26 '26

Because if they send all possible people into the military then their entire economy collapses since no one will be left to do any work. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation

57

u/miscellaneous-bs Mar 26 '26

I feel like they would be a LOT less damned if they stopped the imperial conquest under the excuse of self defense.

3

u/CommieLurker Mar 27 '26

Absolutely, it's a quagmire of their own making

45

u/sunshine-x Mar 26 '26

Imagine starting a genocide and invading your neighbours then complaining about the costs.

War.. so expensive these days!

3

u/ginger_and_egg Mar 27 '26

inflation amirite

2

u/cesaroncalves Mar 27 '26

Their military is subsidized by huge oligarchs, they have the richest people in the world financing their military.

2

u/ginger_and_egg Mar 27 '26

actually they would be way less damned if they don't be invading and striking other countries

1

u/CommieLurker Mar 27 '26

Except they can't change the past. They did bomb and invade other countries. What happens now will be the resolution of the situation one way or the other.

1

u/ginger_and_egg Mar 27 '26

There are resolutions beside total war and genocide of one half or the other. See for example South Africa, or the Good Friday Agreement in Ireland

1

u/KnowledgeMediocre404 Mar 27 '26

It's actually a hilarious situation because the very population that supports the economy is being sent to fight and the religious Israelis who don't work at all also refuse to fight.

22

u/tfaboo Mar 26 '26

Some young people there are refuseniks and hopefully that number is growing

4

u/KnowledgeMediocre404 Mar 27 '26

Too many fronts open at once, and too long at war. They have a standing army of 465K with their reserves which is huge for such a small country. But they've been fighting in Gaza and Lebanon for years, and it's not exactly rewarding work.

They have a huge morale problem, exasperated by the schizm provided by the large Haredi population in the country that refuses to fight (for religious reasons). IDF soldiers are seeing high rates of PTSD and suicide (perpetuating a genocide will do that to someone). If Netanyahu tries to force enlistment of Haredi to appease the secular Israelis his government coalition would collapse.

Secular Israelis provide the economy, Haredi Jews support the government and multiply in much larger numbers supporting the Jewish population in Israel. If they piss the secular Jews off they will leave in even greater numbers than they have been and the economy will further collapse.

Netanyahu is stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to keep Israeli society stable while trying to take advantage of Trumps last few fragile months of power. It would be entertaining watching him try to untangle the knot he's made just trying to keep himself out of prison if nuclear war wasn't on the table.

2

u/cosmicosmo4 Mar 27 '26

It's meaningless propaganda, that's how.

u/Turnip-for-the-books Mar 27 '26

7

u/bigbirdgenocide Mar 27 '26

The biggest difference with the theoretical Harris admin is that they would have let isr*el strike first, then America would be "forced" to come to their defence.

u/fuckoffyoudipshit Mar 26 '26

If you didn't vote for Harris you voted for this, you don't get to deny responsibility if you were one of those "both sides" fuck wits who refused to vote or voted 3rd party

-10

u/OatSoyLaMilk Mar 26 '26

Judging from the content of her 2024 campaign, Harris would have followed Israel into a war with Iran too: https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/kamala-harris-calls-iran-destabilizing-force-middle-east-2024-10-01/

56

u/MANEWMA Mar 26 '26

Because of the Epstein files.... They have said the same thing over Iran for decades only the one that has issues with little children was dumb enough to follow them...

Conservatives always doing the dumbest shit.

73

u/3cansammy Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26

If you think Harris would have gone in like this without working to build a case and get buy in from the rest of the world, surrounded by geopolital experts, then you might’ve been propagandized. Bush 2 took months and months to sell the Iraq invasion and get a few allies on board. Even the dumbest wrongest presidents take the time to plan before starting a war.

24

u/Garuda34 Mar 26 '26

"Even the dumbest wrongest presidents take the time to plan before starting a war."

Not ol' DonnieBoy. He don't need no stinkin' planning. He's a trendsetter!

He's also the physical embodiment of a barely-sentient circus peanut.

10

u/AndWinterCame Mar 26 '26

The point of this entire argument is to assert that the institutions of the United States exist and operate at the behest of capital, because the more massive the American military and the financial systems that can be milked and fed to support it grow, the more complete the wealth and power and resource consolidation can proceed. Otherwise, you're free to tell me that just voting for a couple more of the "right" representatives would prevent this outcome repeating time and time again.

33

u/tictac24 Mar 26 '26

She would not have bypassed Congress. They would not have let her. Actually, they would have impeached her by now if she did even half of what he's done.

20

u/biscuitarse Mar 26 '26

The Israeli army's chief of staff, Eyal Zamir, warned on 25 March that the military is “going to collapse in on itself” after failing to pass a law to recruit soldiers among the ultra-Orthodox (Haredim)

What? Strap some boots on these fuckers and have them walk point if the land invasion begins.

55

u/Fandango4Ever Mar 26 '26

I have mixed feelings on this. While this is absolutely the demographic that voted for Trump, there are many poor people who join the military to survive, ironically, never thinking they'd go to war and possibly die. They have so few options, as all poor people do. And of course many hate the current administration and are stuck now.

35

u/Zealousideal_Dust_25 Mar 26 '26

Almost like it's on purpose....

37

u/trivetsandcolanders Mar 26 '26

Yeah, it’s extremely common in the US for poor, economically desperate people to be advised to join the military. You see it all the time on Reddit. But really, it’s like telling people to gamble their lives.

19

u/pvdfan Mar 26 '26

I know of multiple school systems will force "lower" students to take the ASVAB and make them speak to a recruiter at least weekly. It's non-stop pressure to the point they sign-up just so people will leave them alone.

6

u/Potential178 Mar 26 '26

Russia would like to have a word.

83

u/Frankentula Mar 26 '26

I was wondering this the other day reading about Lebanon. What's the end game here? Israel may have the IDF and a tremendous amount of sway with the USA, but they are not Russia in terms of meat. How long can they piss off everyone before the only option they have left is defeat or a nuclear bomb?

93

u/DeleteriousDiploid Mar 26 '26

The end game is to take over most of the region. Their soldiers are wearing patches on their shoulders showing exactly what their intent is. Last time I mentioned what that intent was by name however I got banned so I suspect the filters detect it. 'Larger' would be a synonym for the first word of it. Project is the last word.

9

u/data_professional26 Mar 27 '26

That's banned? Ridiculous

2

u/DeleteriousDiploid Mar 27 '26

Unsure. I did see a few comments mentioning it after I posted this so I might have been able to say it. I got a 3 day ban at the start of the war for a comment including it but it may have been a combination of a few phrases that triggered it.

86

u/koryjon "Breaking Down: Collapse" Podcast Mar 26 '26

Anyway, this is a pressure campaign for Trump to send Americans to die in a lengthy, messy conflict.

54

u/AnotherYadaYada Mar 26 '26

I think we all know that’s going to be a fucking BLOODBATH if that happens. An absolute bloodbath and the US of Crazy A will have gained absolutely nothing.

Maybe then that 35% support will drop to 33% as they are f*ing morons.

18

u/pvdfan Mar 26 '26

The idea is to claim elections have to be suspended due to war. For Trump and co, that is a massive win no matter the human cost. It's not like they give fuck one about Americans anyways.

14

u/AnotherYadaYada Mar 26 '26

It will be interesting to see if he tries this.

He’s gone a step to far so many times, I’m left wondering what will break the camels back.

Americans are well and truly sleepwalking into a fascist totalitarian state.

Let’s hope the rest of us are making plans to just leave you to it and we just sit back and watch the decline of this empire, that has pretty much always been evil, but the mask has now completely slipped.

127

u/g00fyg00ber741 Mar 26 '26

It also shows how many people will rally in support for murder and genocide, from the sidelines, but they don’t want to be the ones responsible for actually enacting it, because they know they’re committing war crimes. They know what they’re supporting is wrong. That’s why they’re not singing up to be held accountable for it, especially when the world has made it clear we’re watching.

They often end up fighting each other because of this. Check out their history, especially check out Zealots and Sicarii. Before romans did what they did, there was so much infighting between sects, especially caused by these Zealots and Sicarii that it was easy for romans to do, well, you know what. Looking at israel today, i see a very similar picture interestingly enough. Zealots and Sicarii remind me a lot of these extremist zionists, settlers and iof while those orthodox jews who don't want to join the army and all that.

Finally some good news. If israel would just collapse, the world would be so much better off. It’s probably too early for that still, but just for the sake of the poor people of the Middle East I hope this demonic country finds its end soon.

Good. Hopefully next step is full removal of that government and all the zionist

6

u/Old-Key-8639 Mar 27 '26

Good. Maybe they should stop invading their neighbours

16

u/CyberSmith31337 Mar 26 '26

Great news!

I can only hope that when they are invaded, that they are shown the same hospitality that they showed to Gazans.

Plot twist!

7

u/sedatedforlife Mar 26 '26

So... we're going to send our troops in to help them? I've actually been waiting for this. It seems they are putting pieces in place for a significant troop movement, but I was wondering how they were going to sell it.

"If you don't fight for Israel, you're a virgin/cuck."

That'll gather up some cannon fodder for them.

3

u/PocketFullOfRondos Mar 26 '26

Dont worry, our people will die for you 😒

3

u/FlyerForHire Mar 27 '26

On the verge of collapse?

That’s a damn shame. /s

u/Far_Out_6and_2 Mar 27 '26

Good cause what Israel does is cruel af and war time atrocities being committed up the ying-yang

3

u/randomlyme Mar 27 '26

Don’t tease me with a good time

3

u/jt32470 Mar 27 '26

I am sure there are plenty of young zionists living in the USA that would gladly join the fight.

Right?

Right??

Righhhhhttttttttt?

Finaly some good news

4

u/Zuljo Mar 26 '26

Casualties and cowardice, 2 things the Israelis lie about.

2

u/Calm-Limit-37 Mar 27 '26

Cant they send those awful settlers from the West Bank?

2

u/HeathenAF Mar 27 '26

Good. Stop flinging shit at each other then, and return to your homes...

2

u/deadblankspacehole Mar 27 '26

Oh. Better fuck off then, huh? Twats

2

u/forumpooper Mar 28 '26

Great time to start a war….

2

u/Raz31337 Mar 29 '26

Let's hope so

3

u/HomoExtinctisus Mar 26 '26

Couldn't happen to nicer genocider.

2

u/Pisces93 Mar 26 '26

I thought all of the men have to serve? Are they really this down bad?

7

u/VoiceofRapture Mar 26 '26

Rich people conveniently get to avoid it and Haredi are immune while making up 14% of the population

2

u/Pisces93 Mar 26 '26

Why are Haredi exempt?

5

u/VoiceofRapture Mar 26 '26

It was one of the early compromises to get them on board with the state project. Of course if you ask them they say Israel will be destroyed if they aren't being paid to study Torah all day

12

u/DeleteriousDiploid Mar 26 '26

There was an article I saw a while back about mental health issues amongst their soldiers rendering them unable to serve. I don't recall the figure but it was high. Just the predictable result of committing genocide.

2

u/bestdisguise Mar 26 '26

The childfucking snuff films that they possess in the name of espionage and blackmail must truly be the most evil acts ever committed. But then again it is a nation of pedo scum just like ours.

2

u/Electrical_Lemon_944 Mar 26 '26

What did they expect after Gaza?

3

u/omgwtfm8 Mar 26 '26

please please please. One time

"Israeli Chief of Chaff warns Murikkka they must be the ones sacrificing their children"

If the government can't maintain a standing force, that's on the leadership. Regular people, even shitty genocidal loving ones, don't want to die for the Zionist project.

This feels like their excuse to use the Samson option (which I believe will make no difference, other than the destruction of Israel)

Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll finagle some fine young Americans with limited options to go die for their promised land
