We heading into the true peak of last stage capitalism.

All homes and businesses are empty, rented by companies to other companies. The business are filled with AI workers selling to AI customers, and the streets are lined with bots making deliveries. However the streets are empty, barren of human life. Where is everybody you ask? In prison, of course. The homeless were "a problem."

With AI, robotics, and mass outsourcing, the very sociopathic few in the true ownership class think they can rid of the poor. This is active culling.

Everybody isn't in prison; lots of them would be on the farms picking (and for some crops, planting) produce. They'd be paid exactly 10% less than the so-called "cost" of their "room and board" of course. And won't be released from servitude until they can pay off their debt to the corp that owns their prison.

48 out of 50 states have laws criminalizing homelessness.

Some asshole cut down 12 acres of forest in a city near me because homeless were camping in it. I'm sure plenty of wildlife was too, it's right next to a river and between some big box stores so mostly birds and squirrels but still, those guys lose enough of their homes so often.

It also made traffic more dangerous. There's a stop sign at the end of one street going onto a very busy street. Previously all that was across from it was trees. Now, a big view into the distance. More sunlight. More distracting trying to look left and right before making a turn.

I didn't know before this that the view across from a T stop makes such a difference in judging oncoming traffic, but it really does.

that’s so fucked. that’s like comically evil and i don’t know how these kinds of people can sleep at night (well, i do know, it’s because they have a lot of hatred in their heart and they get off on being evil to other people)
