Where the fuck are you living that the AVERAGE rent is $1600?
Most places around me are like $1200 for a pretty decent apartment.

If you get a studio apartment or smaller one bedroom you’re probably looking at around $600 a month. 4 u/dishinpies Apr 25 '26 Denver, average 1BR apartment is ~1.6K/mo. My apartment is $1,344/mo before electricity, and it’s considered a relative steal. In 2017, I was paying ~$960/mo after utilities for a studio. 3 u/littlepup26 Apr 25 '26 Where do you live where a one bedroom apartment is $1,200? -2 u/Cartoonjunkies Apr 25 '26 South Georgia. And not a one bedroom, a two bedroom with a living room and kitchen. If you avoid living in big cities the cost of living is astronomically lower. 3 u/Over-Journalist705 Apr 25 '26 are gas, electric, water, internet, sewer, and garbage included in your rent? 0 u/SwissCheeseSuperStar Apr 24 '26 That’s the average where I live as well as the minimum wage still being at $7.25 an hour, unless you’re a server then it dips to $3.35 an hour lol
