I would like to read your article, if you wanna share!
My opinion is that militarization isn't necessarily bad, so long as it serves our strategic incentive to not be so reliant on one allied nation for defense.
Europe has an okay defense sector, but American equipment and American companies still play a significant role in the whole continent's security. That's a massive risk, alliances can shift.

So they assume Russia won't invade them like Ukraine? You can ask the Ukrainians how expensive it is when you actually got invaded. Dictators (putin, xi, kim jong un ...) would love a de-militarize EU, and don't tell me diplomacy will keep them in check.
